The name pretty much says it all. On average, one cup of hot buttered rum contains two tablespoons of butter. (For those counting, the butter alone adds 200 calories and 36 grams of fat to the drink.) Making things worse, some recipes even call for one to two more tablespoons of butter in the cocktail concoction.
Healthy alternative: If you're looking for something to warm you up on cold Winter nights, then choose a seasonally spiced Hot Toddy instead. It won't have the same caramel richness that butter gives a drink, but it will have about 300 calories less and zero fat.
