Between being a full-time mom, recording artist, X Factor UK judge, and recent star of the Lifetime film Love by the Tenth Date, it's safe to say that Kelly Rowland is extremely busy. But despite the many hats the multifaceted star juggles on a regular basis, she still finds time to raise awareness for issues close to her heart (literally).

Kelly recently teamed up with Burlington Stores and WomenHeart to raise awareness about the importance of women's heart health. The partnership comes as part of Heart Health Month, but when we spoke with Kelly she revealed that it is much more personal. During our chat, she shared that the loss of her mom makes her new initiative with WomenHeart all the more important. We also got a chance to learn how she keeps her body (and mind!) in shape despite her jam-packed schedule. Read on for more of Kelly's tips and advice!

On her partnership with Burlington and WomenHeart:

"One in three women die from heart disease. If that isn't scary enough, a majority of these women are African American. So it's super important to stay informed and take advantage of free services like these screenings at Burlington. I think it's such a blessing that we can take a few minutes of our time to check on our health. So if you do have five to 10 minutes to spare and it can be the difference between life and death, why not?"

On her personal connection to heart disease:

"I lost my mother to heart disease. She had a cardiac arrest and we literally were just like, 'Where did this come from?' It happened only two weeks after I had my son. So if I can tell other people about simply going to get screened and tested to prevent that kind of disappointment and pain, then it's 100 percent my responsibility to spread awareness and talk about it."

On her diet:

"I hate the word diet, but it does play a huge role into maintaining a healthy heart, mind, and body. So I try to eat as healthy as possible. I like to stick to the 80-20 type of rule. Eighty percent of the time, I'm eating foods that are nutritious for my body. The other 20 percent is pretty much cheese or anything sweet, fried, or covered in salt or sugar. But I do like to balance it all out and make sure I'm drinking a lot of water."

On her current workout routine:

"I try to exercise four to five times a week. Right now my trainers are doing high-intensity workouts with me. After I had my son, my core changed so we're doing a lot of exercises to strengthen that part of my body. I really believe that if your core is strong, the rest of your body will be strong, too."

On meditation:

"When I'm on the go, the easiest way for me to feel centered is by meditating. Oftentimes meditation leads to sleep for me and it's just so relaxing. So even if I can't make it to the gym, I just figure out ways to fit that quiet time into my day.

I knew I wanted to practice meditation after I had my son and even during my pregnancy. Just knowing after he was born that everything would be about him, I really needed to carve some time out of my day for myself and I still do. I also love that it helps me sleep better. Sometimes when you fall asleep you're thinking about a million different things and meditation really helps to give you a focus. Once you're centered, you doze off so quickly and it's awesome."

Her health advice for other women:

"When you wake up in the morning and look at the person staring back at you, you should want to take the best care of her. If you have the opportunity to stand up on your limbs and wake up in the morning, that means you're supposed to be here, but you're also supposed to take care of yourself. As women, we're supposed to take care of each other, too, so spread your knowledge with others. You only get one life, and it's important to care for the body that you're in."
