Jordyn Wieber Olympics Interview | Video

Hey PopSugar, it's Jordyn Wieber. I'm a gymnyst and I'm here at the P&G Family Home for the London 2012 Olympic Games. And I practice around 30 hours a week. My Olympic hero is either Carly Patterson or Nastia Liukin just because I watched them in the past Olympics win the all around and they were just such an inspiration and they kind of helped me work even harder to get to the Olympics watching them. After the games, I'm going home for about two weeks. And then we go right to California for rehearsals for the Kellogg's tour gymnastics champions. My favorite post workout snack is anything healthy, like anything that protein or fruits and vegetables. Before the Olympic games I didn't really cheat too often, but I guess, you know, if I did it would be something semi healthy like frozen yogurt. I think if I could do any other Olympic sport, it would be running or track and field or something like that just because we've been watching it on TV and it's pretty interesting. I don't really have too many surprising things in my gym bag, just the typical water bottle, grips, things like that. Yes. Before competition I usually just put in my headphones and listen to some good music that is going to get me excited but also you know keep calm. I would just try to get in what I call my zone, and run through my routines in my head. The craziest thing I have seen in the Olympic Village is there are speed walkers going around everywhere so you just walk out the door and you'll see a speed walker and it's just the funniest thing and it's a pretty interesting sport. There are definitely days where I was just a little bit tired, or not really feeling like working out but those were the days where I really had to push myself. I just had to keep the goal of making the Olympic team in the back of my mind to motivate me. Most of the time I like to celebrate a big win by spending time with my family or being with my teammates celebrating all the hard work that we put in to getting to that point. today was the first day that we got to sight see a little bit. We went to the London eye and we got see all the buildings from up there so that was pretty cool. I first dreamt about going Olympics I think when I was ten years old and I qualified for the elite level. That's kind of when the dream kind of popped into my head, and then from there I just started working even harder to try to reach that goal of making the 2012 Olympics. My mom has been so supportive ever since I first started gymnastics when I was four years old, whether it was driving me back and forth to practice everyday or rearranging my schedule. Not just my mom, my whole family has made so many sacrifices so that I could reach this ultimate goal.
