Jennifer Lawrence's Attitude About Exercise Is as Down-to-Earth as You'd Expect

Who doesn't adore the funny, relatable, and talented Jennifer Lawrence? As the final installment of The Hunger Games franchise hits theaters this weekend, there's no better time to share all the reasons we admire her strength, attitude, and sincerity. Learn how she's managed to balance her successes and challenging roles so gracefully!

She won't succumb to Hollywood pressure: She may be Hollywood's it girl, but Jennifer has been outspoken about her unwavering position on dieting for a role: "I'm never going to starve myself for a part . . . I keep waiting for that one role to come along that scares me enough into dieting, and it just can't happen. I'm invincible."

She gets that strong is sexy: While she doesn't diet, Jennifer told Glamour, "I do exercise! . . . You can't work when you're hungry, you know?" When preparing for her role as Katniss Everdeen, Jennifer told Elle she was conscious about "look[ing] fit and strong — not thin and underfed," especially with so many young women watching closely. "I don't want little girls to be like, 'Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I'm going to skip dinner,'" she told the magazine. Press play to learn how Jennifer trained for the Hunger Games.

She's all about bodyweight workouts: Dr. Joe Horrigan is the Hollywood doctor that got Jennifer in shape to play Katniss, and he told Teen Vogue strength training was a big part of the process. But instead of relying on weights alone, he's a fan of "bodyweight squats, push-ups, and sit-ups all performed in a circuit." He says, "If you can do any of these exercises for 20 minutes at high intensity, you will see results." Exercise just like Jennifer with these bodyweight workout posters.

She has a great attitude: When it came down to preparing for her role as Katniss, Dr. Horrigan told Teen Vogue, "[Jennifer] was never late. She never missed a workout. She never complained. She did everything that was asked of her and she usually did so with a smile." Jennifer is proof that a positive attitude is everything — both in and out of the gym!
