A common complaint among runners and cyclists is tight hip flexors, the area in front of the hips above the quads. Here's one of my favorite ways to lengthen that area, while also getting a subtle spinal twist — two great stretches in one!

To learn how to get into this stretch, read more.
- Begin in a lunge position with the right knee forward and the left leg extended behind you. The right knee should be directly above the ankle. Place a folded towel underneath your left knee if you feel any discomfort under or around your knee cap.
- Rest your left hand on your right knee and bend your back (left) knee. Reach your right arm behind you and clasp the arch of your left foot. Lower your pelvis until you feel a nice stretch in the left hip flexor.
- Hold the stretch for 30 seconds, and then switch sides by bringing the left knee forward.

This is somewhat unrelated but where did you get those pants? I like to wear spandex type pants when I workout because I don't have to worry about things riding up and whatnot like with shorts but when I try to wear pants like this I find that they are see through when I bend over and you can see my crack. I unfortuantely found this out while I was stretching at the gym and caught a glipse of myself in the mirror, zionks! My booty is a little more develped on me so I tend to stretch those bad boys out I guess. In any case can anyone suggest anything? I don't have a high workout clothing budget and I do something active everyday so I can't seem to keep up with the laundry and would like some more pants to put in the rotation.
1Much obliged!
These capris were $10 at Old Navy, but they're made of thin material. I have them in black too, and those pair are definitely less see-through.
2I'm definitely going to have to try this one. My hips have been really sore since a long hike last weekend and I've been looking for good stretches.
