No Equipment Necessary: Seated Sweeping Leg Lift

Time to strengthen those quads with this simple yet effective move you can do anywhere. This exercise will tone your upper legs, which will make your legs appear slimmer. Toned thighs will also give you strength when running, biking, swimming, or doing everyday activities like going up stairs.

  • Sit with your legs extended in front of you. Bend your left knee and clasp your shin with both hands.
  • Flex your right foot and lift it a few inches above the ground. Sweep it away from your body to the right (as shown above). Hold here for three seconds. Then return your leg back to center and hold for another three seconds. This counts as one rep.
  • Complete three sets of 12 to 15 reps with each leg.

Make sure to keep your deep abs engaged by pulling your navel to your spine during this exercise.
