The fat found in olive oil is monounsaturated fatty acids. This type of fat is good for you because it may lower your total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels , which can lower your risk of heart disease — which something as simple as consuming too much sugar can increase our risk. Keep in mind that just because olive oil contains health MUFAs, that doesn't mean it is low in calories, so be sure to use in moderation.
