I like to have a few energy bars on hand, tucked away in my desk drawer or the glove box in my car, in case hunger hits unexpectedly. They tend to be about 200 calories, so they make a perfect snack and are much better for you than candy bars, but I don't eat them regularly.

If I am running after work and have no late afternoon snack, I will crack open an energy bar. I'd say I eat two a month. I have a friend who munches them almost daily to power her before-breakfast workouts. What about you?
Bunny Hug
they have too many calories and the taste of most of these bars is not worth it. i also cant have a 280 calorie snack before running bc i get cramps.
12x a day
2I have tried a few different kinds, but they are just not that good. I never heard of the kind from Odwalla, so I may try it. They usually taste awful. I don't mind the cals, in fact, that's a snack that would be awesome if you could actually stand to eat it.
3fruit + peanut butter does it for me. these things taste like poop and cardboard with nuts and berries.
4I eat them if I don't have anything else, or if I don't feel like eating breakfast but want to get some calories in, but probably not more than once every two weeks or so.
5I never eat energy bars. They're high in calories (given their size), they're expensive, and they don't taste very good. For some quick energy, I'd rather eat some almonds or a yogurt.
6I never eat them.
7Clif kids bars are the best and most low calorie, esp the peanut butter one. Plus, only $.69.
8However, I stopped eating all these energy bars about four months ago and I can't believe how much weight I've shed. I was already thin, but even if you eat them as intended, they pack on pounds!!!
I used to eat one every day because of classes, but during the summer I've had time to actually make meals. Once classes start up, I'll probably eat them every day again. Although South Beach bars I LOVED before, and then they changed the recipe and now I think they're awful.
9Probably once a day as a late afternoon snack before I hit the gym for a workout or class.
10If I've got a craving for a candy bar I might grab a 180 cal one of these instead. Other than that, it's a waste of calories and money, I think. They are never a common item in my weekly grocery cart.
11They're too expensive for me to eat all the time, but every once in a while I'll break up half of a Larabar and mix it in with some plain Greek yogurt for an AM post-workout snack.
12I used to eat them very frequently, certain brands actually taste good and it's a portable snack. Now I rarely eat them though, I stash almonds in my purse instead and I use recovery drinks when training for long-distance running or tris. Certain Luna bars and clif bars taste good, to me.
13Can't eat them. They give me cramps and diarrhea.
14If they ever made one that tasted like potato chips, I'd consider eating them. Otherwise, blech. I won't waste the calories.
15I used to eat them all of the time but then I realized the calories and sugar that was in them so I started going for more natural snacks like apples and peanut butter. My stomach has been less gassy because of it but they are still a good once in awhile snack because I kinda like the way they taste:)
16Larabars are one of the only brands I eat...they're delicious and give me the energy I need.
17I'd rather have a protein shake than a protein bar
18When I'm at school, I have one two times a week in the morning before my early morning horseback riding class since the dining hall isn't open yet, and I don't like to wake up any earlier than I have to. Otherwise, I never eat them.
19not often. i used to have them as a regular part of my diet but i've changed things up so it's a rare occasion that i eat one.
20only when traveling.
21oh and they're the cliff builder bars that have 20 grams of protein in them. But again only when traveling.
22Never now that I cant find Pria anywhere! The other ones are all gross.
23I tend to eat these in the winter, when a lot of my fav. fruits aren't in season. But in the summer, I take advantage of all the fresh fruit in the farmer's market.
24I'm slowly moving into a Vegan diet (baby steps hehe!) and Odwalla bars and Larabars are my ultimate favorite. All of the Larabars are vegan and as far as I know, most of the Odwalla bars are vegan too. I agree with the above post though, most of these are pretty gross. Especially SoyJoys. Where's the joy in eating a spongy, greasy stick?
I also like the Kind bars (I think that's what they're called) and I make my own version with sesame and honey when I have the time.
So far I think they're all awful. I haven't found one that I've liked yet.
25too much sugar!
26I hardly eat them but when I do I choose Larabar. Few ingredients and very friendly on my food allergies. I try not to eat a whole one so keep an eye out for when they have packaged bites at local events. They are a local company so I see them with booths around town a great deal. I am not a total fiend though and buy them to keep in the pantry as well.
27Never, because I think they're gross. Plus, they're expensive and have a lot of mystery ingredients in them. I'd rather get my energy from actual food like fruit and nuts and yogurts.
28I'll eat these instead of a chocolate bar sometimes - maybe 2-3 times per week. I like the taste of a lot of them, actually - maybe it's an acquired taste? Whole foods are a better choice but whatever.
29I actually just found some tasty, high-protein and low sugar energy bars called Detour, they are so good! And there are no sugar alcohols in those, with only 3 g sugar (170 cal & 6 g fat). I eat one about once a week when I'm out and about and need some energy, as opposed to when people will just go out and grab a burger. That's how I justify eating one.
30I've never had one. They're too processed for me. I rather have a basic trail mix of dried fruit, nuts, and dry oatmeal.
31Just not into them. I would rather have some nuts or fuit or cottage cheese.
32Almost everyday I will eat a special K protein bar with some fruit as my lunch or breakfast. Are these bars good to eat or are they too high in sugar? Any thoughts?
