It's not a stomach of steel you're after. You don't need to be able to devour a bowl of spicy chili without even a single burp. You'd be happy with a stomach that could handle a simple apple. Unfortunately every body is different, and some of us are born with sensitive stomachs, but you don't have to take it lying down (or in the bathroom). Some foods are harder to digest than others, but here are some ways to make those hard-to-digest foods easier on your belly.
- Green peppers: These veggies are actually unripe, so eating them raw in a salad makes them tough to digest for many people. Instead, enjoy your green peppers grilled, roasted, or sauteed. if it's raw peppers you crave, choose red, orange, or yellow.

- Dairy: If you're full-on lactose intolerant, you can still enjoy milk, cheese, and ice cream with ease. Just pop a Lactaid pill with your first bite of dairy-containing food and you're good to go. It contains the lactase enzyme (that your body doesn't produce enough of) to break down the lactose milk sugar.
- Apples and pears: These high-fiber fruits seem so innocent and healthy, but for many people, eating one leads to uncomfortable bloating and gas. Ease these into your diet by either eating a couple slices at a time, or by eating them with other foods like yogurt or cereal. It may also help to peel the skin and let your body get used to the flesh first.
- Beans: Packed with protein and fiber, these little gems are known to cause an embarrassing issue once consumed. To nip this problem in the bud, it helps to gradually introduce them into your diet, and eat them with easily digestible foods like rice or bread. If you soak and boil your own dried beans, pour out the water the beans cooked in once they're done since using this bean water in recipes can make gas problems even worse.

When it comes to eating beans, cumin is known for helping reduce that embarrassing issue that beans tend to cause! Plus, cumin tastes great in most bean dishes!
1Noooo don't peel your fruits! There is so much nutrition in them! I think easing into eating more and more of all of these foods is the best advice. Your body can adjust.
2Some people who are allergic to milk can handle digesting whole milk- I know, promoting full-fat dairy... heresy- but it's worked for me! Even better, lots of lactose intolerant folks can handle goat's milk just fine. Cow's milk can take a baby up to 8 hours to digest. Goat's milk? Only 20 minutes. if you think you can't have milk, I would suggest trying this out. It's worked for many of my family members!
3Apples make my stomach BURN like crazy. Eating just a little doesn't help.
4Broccoli and cabbage are hard on my tummy, but I find that if I eat them with caraway seeds on them, it really helps.
5green peppers!!! painful!
6What about corn? I recently had a big corn on the cob (along with chips and a BBQ burger, which I eat often in my diet). I hadn't eaten corn since the holidays. I had a VERY painful evening with a lot of odd bloating, stomach cramps, gas, etc. I wasn't drinking any alcohol or carbonated drinks (just water). Could it have been the corn I ate???
7I put an inch of kombu (sea plant) in the boiling water of my quinoa. This is supposed to even out the alkiline and reduce gas. You throw out the kombu when your done.
8Well green peppers are yucky raw anyways so there!
