While supermodel Helena Christensen says she's obsessed with food, she doesn't attribute her smoking good looks to any trendy superfoods. In the April issue of InStyle UK, the gorgeous 40-year-old gives her rigorous fitness regimen credit for maintaining her model body and says, "I'm in better shape than I was at 25 because I'm actually doing something physical."
She's leaving it open for us to assume that she didn't exercise when she was in her 20s, and it's hard to believe that she looked as good as she did without working out. Helena explains, "I'm super lucky with my metabolism. I have to be realistic — that might not always be the situation. That's why I chose really intense training."
Helena is smart to use exercise for revving up her metabolism. While her statement that she "eats like a pig" might make some of us a little jealous, I love Helena's realistic attitude that her amazing metabolism might not last forever. She's chosen a healthy way of dealing with that reality, and she looks fantastic.

well i think that it's the case now with a lot of the supermodels from back in the day. they were just lucky to have great figures when they were younger (and perhaps starved themselves too) but now that they are more mature, they realize that there are ways to maintain a healthier body through diet and fitness.
1yeah she probably smoked like crazy and took "diet" pills to suppress her appetite back then. (assumption is a common source of error, I realize this)
I'm glad she's getting her head on straight now. We need to treat our bodies with respect all throughout our lives.
2She looks stunning now!
3im so over that "i eat like a pig" thing... i dont believe it
4The problem with people saying "I eat like a pig" is that it's entirely relative to the individual's eating habits (and even the culture they were raised with). I know that when I feel I've eaten a LOT, in reality it's still not nearly as much as my husband or even some of my friends can put away! I'm kind of a nibbler.
For a model, yes, she may very well "eat like a pig." For a model.
5you have an excellent point, misskacie...my idea of eating like a pig is having half a crumbs cupcake...my bf could eat 3 and be ready for dinner.
6I'm sorry to say, but she looks older than 40!
7I bought the issue today (I'm not from the UK but I couldn't help it when I saw her on the cover) and she really does look great. I never thought she was very pretty or anything but there's something really cool and original about her. I have to say though that I raised my eyebrows when I read the "I eat like a pig" comment. I mean, I have good metabolism too and I don't have to diet as long as I'm exercising, but if I "eat like a pig", I gain weight like everybody else. Probably she does eat a lot more that what models are eating these days though.
