Heated Running Vest: Cool or Not?

In the Winter months, exercising outdoors can seem like the last thing you want to do because of the frigid, biting temps. If you need a little warming up, check out this heated vest by Venture ($159). Made for active Winter folks, this rechargeable battery-powered vest is meant to keep you toasty without having to layer on tons of bulky clothes.

I know it's cold out there, but when you start moving around, your body heats up, so I'm wondering whether this heated vest will make you overheat. I guess you can just turn it off it that happens, but then is it worth the dough? What do you think? Is this a snow bunny's dream or is this heated vest overpriced and unnecessary?

Um, I'd wear it if I was out riding my horse in the dead of winter. I always put those hand warmers in my riding shoes and gloves, too.

It would have to be REALLY COLD for me to wear this... like below 0*F cold. I was running in tights, short sleeved shirt, thin jacket today when it was 35*F and I was BOILING.

It'd be nice to wear if you were like, ice fishing or something where you aren't moving much. I'm with everyone who said they'd rather have heated socks or gloves. They would be a lot more practical than a vest.

I agree lilegwene. I would rather have heated gloves and socks. I would take those just for the bus stop. I don't do outdoor workouts during Chicago winters. I'm just not that tough. ;-).

Same as lilegwene - My core is warm, it's my hands/ears that felt cold.

It could be fun to wear, but it doesn't seem like a great idea... when I run outside in the winter it's usually my ears/fingers/legs that get cold. I have no problem keeping my middle warm without this!
