Fergie Calls French Fries Poison in Elle Magazine
Do You Play Mind Tricks on Yourself to Stay Healthy?
In the May issue of Elle, Fergie confesses that she tricks herself out of eating the bad stuff.
"I'm not going to lie: There are times I play mind tricks on myself, like that the french fries are poison. With desserts, I'll let myself have just one bite, but I'll look like a freak when I'm eating it, like when I did Duncan Hines commercials as a kid, just savoring every morsel."
My tactics are a little different than Fergie's because I'm worried that calling something "poison" might lead to a bad relationship with food. I have, however, made a point to keep unhealthy foods out of my home — I figure if it's not there, I won't eat it. A trick my friend plays on herself when she gets cravings is to imagine herself fitting into smaller clothes; it's enough to stop her from overindulging!
