Fartlek is Swedish for "speed play" and it is an informal way to approach interval training by adding timed sprints into training runs. Sprints duration times last anywhere from 15 seconds to 3 minutes. Recovery time is however long it takes to match roughly 2/3 of the effort of the sprints.
