When it comes to beauty, I feel we hold ourselves up to impossible standards. This video, part of Dove's campaign for real beauty, shows us bit by bit how beauty is constructed. It is no small feat. No wonder we have such horrible self-esteem issues and low self-confidence - look what they have to compete with.

I understand the point they are trying to make...but I don't agree. CheekyLotusclubmomcom - I can't find the post in which we all talked about it (this has been out for a while), but she was right - what impression do we want to give our girls? This video says "Models aren't REALLY pretty, it's all fake." But, in reality, there ARE really pretty women and women who's assets are not their face or body have to accept that. Some people are just prettier. Some people are just smarter. Some people have a lot of money. I know that magazines and ad agencies DO fix up their cover girls, and they shouldn't do that, but that doesn't mean that every beautiful woman is a fake.

I LOVE this campaign! esk4, I know exactly what you mean. When you're just telling yourself it's all photoshop and greased lenses, you almost feel like you're in primary school, telling yourself that the only reason the mean kids are teasing you is because they're jealous. Seeing it makes such a difference!
