Spring and Summer mean that we're able to do more things outside that we're accustomed to doing inside. This not only applies to exercising but to shopping for produce as well.

One of my favorite things about the warmer weather is hitting up the local farmers market and bringing home some super fresh produce. I'm fortunate enough to have three really fabulous ones within walking distance of my house, but they're all over the country right now. If you're looking for a farmers market near you, all you have to do is search the Agricultural Marketing Services database to find a farmers market near you. You may be surprised to find that there are more farmers markets in your area than you thought.

For an agricultural state, FL needs to do better in the way of Farmer's markets. I was able to get better produce in NY when I lived there than here. Publix produce is not always reliable. They sell crates of raspberries w/ mold growing on the bottom all the time.

I am having the best year ever as far as fresh produce goes. We moved from Florida to Colorado recently so are had a growing season from November to April in Florida, and the farmer's market in our new community started the weekend we got here. The mid-week market just started as well and I even got to meet Lynne Rosetto Kasper this past week at that event.

i put in my town and there weren't any there either. oh well...i'm sure i'll figure something out since i know that in NJ there HAS to be a farmers market somewhere.

theres a farmers market in sf at the civic center united nations plaza that has a variety of really good fresh food. i always buy teh best fruit there!!!! there is actually a farmers market only two blocks away from me but i prefer this other one.

At our farm market tomatoes start the season at $2.50 a pound! Because they are the best in the country of course.....

^ I meant the $3.50 is what we pay at the store; at the farmer's market it is much cheaper.

About 15minutes away from my town their is a farmer's market every Saturday from May-November; you can get some wonderful produce and for much less money (tomato's are 3.50 here.)

We just had an awesome all-organic farmer's market start up here close to us, but we didn't hear about it until right after we had car trouble and had no money. :(BUT - to get super local, we're growing some of our own. Our new market is a project where they taught low-income families how to grow organic produce in their own yards, and they sell it to supplement their income. So far, every time it's been open, they've sold out of EVERYTHING!

Oh wow, I had NO idea there were so many in Massachusetts!! There's even one just 5 minutes from my house that starts up in July. I'm excited to go!

I always go to the one here in Oshkosh, but if I'm in Madison I go to theirs because it's bigger. I love getting fresh local produce...sometimes, I don't even have to wait for the farmer's market because there are some farmers that set up carts in the parking lot of the grocery store.

You'd also be surprised that a WHOLE LOT of markets aren't even listed on that site. Only one in gloucester county, NJ? PLEASE. There's like 5 within a mile of me, one of which is my family's.
