Like the other sodas, Zevia uses triple-filtered carbonated water, but what makes this zero-calorie soda unique is that it's sweetened with stevia, is colorless, and is flavored with cherry essence, clove, and cassia oils. We've demystified some unfamiliar ingredients, which Zevia also does a great job of explaining on its website.
- Reb A (stevia) — This is a naturally sweet botanical leaf, native to South and Central America, that when extracted creates a zero-calorie sweetener that is 100 times sweeter than sugar and has no known influence on blood sugar levels.
- Erythritol — A zero-calorie sweetener, erythritol is extracted from the sugar alcohol in fruits and vegetables. Similar to stevia, it also has no known studies showing its effect on blood sugar levels.
