I love a sweet treat, but I like them to be healthy, too. Baked apples were always a Winter favorite when I was growing up. They were delicious and made the entire house smell sweet. Now that I am a mom I appreciate how easy they are to make and how healthy they are to boot.

What you need:
2 apples (I like to use Macintosh)
Chopped walnuts
Dried cranberries
Honey
What you do:
- Preheat the oven to 350° F. Wash the apples thoroughly. Then remove 3/4 of the core, leaving a little at the bottom.
- Place them in a pan and fill the holes up with a mixture of the walnuts and cranberries. Drizzle each with about 1 tbsp of honey.
- Cover the pan with foil and place in the oven for 20 to 30 minutes. Check on your apples occasionally to make sure they're not getting too mushy.
- Remove from the oven, allow to cool for five minutes and enjoy.

yes!!!
2That looks sooo good. I'll have to try it sometime!
3My roommates and I used to make baked apples ALL the time in college. I love them.
4This reminds me of girlscouts, only we would cook them on a fire and put hot cinnamon candies in the middle lol.
I also like to bake apples sliced up for dessert...just put the apples, sliced up in a dish, and sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. no butter, no water...believe it or not...totally delish!
5Baked apples are one of my favorite desserts! Exact I substitute maple syrup for honey because I'm not such a honey fan. I also vary the dried fruit that I stuff them with. Apricots are especially nice. Yummy!
6That's EASY!!! =D But, I'm not that into fruit with stuff if you know what I mean. I like fruit on it's own, only. But this looks doable. =)
7I am going to try this ASAP. I LOVE fruit and Apples happen to be my favorite. Baked Apples are for sure on my menu for tonight!!
8I can't eat uncooked apples, but I do love to bake (or even microwave!) them with some cinnamon for a quick dessert or sweet snack. Also taste great with ice cream if you're not worried about the calories.
9when I was a kid I always used to make baked apples with my mom, my brother loved them (and he is a very picky eater). unfortunately I lost the recipe but I remember they had a 'sauce' of honey with them and raisins. these look delicious too.
10do you personally eat the skins? i find cooked apple skins a little weird...
11That looks great and so easy!
