Americans Not Eating Enough Fruit and Vegetables

How Many Servings of Fruits and Veggies Do You Eat Daily?

It seems we really are a nation who like to see meat and potatoes on our dinner plate. The CDC recently reported that American just are not eating enough fruits and veggies. Only 32.5 percent of the population eats two servings of fruit daily and that stats of eating vegetables is even worse; only 26.6 percent of Americans are eating three servings of veggies per day. And frankly, I find that alarming. The nutritional recommendations are that you eat at least five servings of fruits and veggies daily.

To put this in perspective, a 1/2-cup of fruit or raw or cooked veggies count as a serving, as does one cup of leafy greens. A quarter cup of dried fruit is considered a serving too — hello raisins!
