This Is the Perfect Bedroom Temperature For a Good Night's Sleep

If you live in an old, drafty house, cooler nights can mean bone-chilling, shivering evenings. Meanwhile, inhabitants of radiator-heated apartments experience almost stiflingly hot nights. Believe it or not, room temperature has a significant impact on your sleep. To get proper sleep, the body has an internal temperature level that it needs to reach, and the ideal room temperature to help the body achieve this is between 65° to 72°F. While those with central AC and heat can quickly program the temperature to their liking, here are some other ways to control your bedroom temperature and lead to better, deeper slumber.

  • Keep your radiator on, but leave a window wide open and a rotating fan on. The fan will help circulate the air, creating a more comfortable bedroom temperature.
  • For cold, drafty houses, consider purchasing a stand-alone radiator rather than a space heater, because they are safer to leave on during the night when you are asleep. Or, plug in an electric blanket to help warm up your bed prior to jumping in it.
  • If you sleep with a partner who prefers a different temperature, be sure the temperature does not fall below 65°F. If you are the colder partner, be sure to load up on the fuzzy socks and sweatshirts.
