We are creeping toward the end of January and although New Year's Resolutions seem made to be broken, I wanted to check with you guys on healthy eating. We are all supposed to eat at least five servings of fruits and/or veggies a day. Please don't limit yourself to just five, eat more if you feel like it! I thought it might be a good idea to take stock of your fruit and veggie consumption to see if you are hitting the mark. Take a look back at the last couple of days and remember how many servings (a cup generally counts as a serving) you have eaten.
Then tell me . . .

a lot!!!! i buy tons of apples, papayas, pineapples, grapes, pears, melons, watermelons, every week, and just binge on them through the week
1Tons. I have at least 2 fruit-n-spinach smoothies a day, plus dinner always has veggies and lunch always has a banana.
2I love veggies and fruits!
3haha, fruits and veggies is like all i eat!!
4Fruit makes me want to have a sugar high constantly.. so I usually stick to one serving. I eat VEGGIES.
5I usually have 2-3 servings a day. I'll have if for lunch and then again at dinner.
6I'll have an apple as a snack when I get home from work and usually about 2 servings of veggies as the main part of my dinner, but recently that's about it since I've been eating less recently--no appetite. I need to work on it!
7I've become addicted to apples and carrots. The more you eat them, the more you want to eat them. I can look down and discover i've eaten an entire small package of mini carrots. hey, at least it wasn't a bag of potato chips or cookies!
8i love fruits and veggies. I eat them as much as possible!
9With fruit, I've been attacking the clementines lately. Raspberries and Bananas too. As for veggies, I'm trying to get more variety in there, so this week it's been Leeks, mushrooms, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, beets, swiss chard, and others. I have no idea how many servings of fruits and veggies I get a day, but I think it's a good amount so far.
10@krisSugar: I wish I could eat baby carrots! I usually have to reserve them for my husband and my puppy, who can eat a boat load of those things in one sitting.
11I eat way too many vegetables. Not so much fruit...
12Resolution is going great! Since December 26th (the start of my resolution), I've lost 12 lbs! =D
13I think between 3-5 a day.
14Five or more.
15Probably between 3-5...
16But I am working at eating mroe because I know it's super important!
Veggies are all I eat...mainly green ones. I really dislike fruits & very rarely eat them...occasionally in the summer. Bad, I know... but I can't choke something down that I do not like. Gimme brussel sprouts, spinach, broccoli & I'm just fine.
17i easily eat 5+. since that's all i eat being a vegetarian - i make sure to get a variety of different fruits and veggies to be as balanced as possible
18I go crazy with the fruits and veggies. I allows me to eat a larger quantity of food (and i really like to EAT) for fewer calories and greater nutrition than other snacks.
19I try but I find it hard to constantly keep buying them to keep them fresh...I don't have time to keep running to the store! But I'm trying!
205+ for sure. I bring two pieces of fruit to work with me every day. One is a mid-morning snack and one is an afternoon snack. Then for lunch, I usually have a salad which always has spinach and tomatoes and then usually has some other vegetable like mushrooms, cucumbers, green peppers, etc. Then for dinner, I sautee some veggies as a side- squash, peppers, mushrooms, carrots, etc. Plus, I LOVE fresh pico de gallo, I use it instead of dressing for my salads. I also have edamame a few times a week.
21probably more then I need!!! I looooooooooooove veggies.
22i have 1 large apple, 1 small apple and 2 clementines sitting on my desk, right now, staring at me.
I really should eat more veggies. I tend to have 2 or 3 pieces of fruit a day. Last night I went through 1lb of grapes.
Yep definetly need more veggies. Better get that garden prepared.
237+
That's the recommended amount here in Australia (5 veg, 2 fruit) so that's what I shoot for. Some days I slip up and don't get quite enough, but I usually do okay if I plan for it.
24Most days, I eat about 5. I have 100% fruit juice and a banana in the morning, an apple or clementine with my lunch, baby carrot snack pack during the day, and usually a salad and a veggie (usually green beans, broccoli, or asparagus) at dinnertime.
Somedays, I have more servings than this, somedays I have less...but 5 is a good average for me.
25I'm allergic to most fruits, but I do eat a lot of veggies. At dinner, I sometimes trade my meat for my boyfriend's vegetables.
26i usually have at least five. the daily recommendation is actually 7-9 servings o fruits & veggies, but it's kinda hushed up since because many people aren't managing 5.
27I usually eat like 10 servings a day. I know, that sounds like a lot, but I LOVE my fruits and veggies!!! I usually get 2-3 servings of fruit and the rest is veggies. Lately, I've been on a big spinach and carrot kick. I definitely get a lot of antioxidants from all those veggies...I'm rarely, if ever, sick.
28i don't make it a point to count everything i eat, but it depends - sometimes it's 0, sometimes it's 10 or more
but i try to have at least 3 everyday. now i'm on my healthy diet - i drink tee, eat salads and white meat, no sweets... so i eat more than 5 portions a day.
btw i eat healthy or i eat junk food - my weight stays the same
150lbs. sometimes it makes me
wonder what's the point, but then i remember that it's not only about weight but also about the health.
