Think one or two colas a day are A-OK? Think again.
A recent study has found that drinking two or more colas a day β whether artificially sweetened or not β is linked to a twofold risk of chronic kidney disease. The reasoning? The high levels of phosphoric acid found in colas seem to increase the risk of kidney stones, renal failure and other conditions affecting the kidneys β all for a brown fizzy beverage.
The good news? Drinking two or more noncola carbonated drinks a day, like bubble water, did not increase the risk. So get your fizz fix elsewhere and cut back on the cola to decrease your risk of type 2 diabetes, obesity, and kidney problems.

"Skinny B!tch" says it best... soda is liquid Satan.
1Haha, it is. And I agree with them. I cut it out about six months ago and I feel 900% better. Foxie, very cool to have another skinny b*tch fan around here!
2I RARELY drink soda, maybe once every 2-3months.
3I just stopped drinking soda last week, cold turkey. It's awful! But I know it's better for me to not drink it. I used to drink four cans of diet soda a day.
4First of all, good for you Bookish! That takes will power!
I used to drink A LOT of diet cola. I cut back on it, so I only drink it every once in awhile.
Question: does anyone know if this study includes ginger ale or is it just regular/diet cola?
Thanks.
5Yea, I am not a pop drinker.
6Always have been.
It just doesn't appeal to me!
I work on a renal floor in my hospital, and I have NEVER had a patient come in for renal failure related to excess ingestion of colas!
7Yah, I used to drink about a liter of Diet Coke a day!!! ...at restaurants I would refill my diet coke about FOUR times during my meal. I have been diet coke/soda free since November 1st!! =D I feel sooo much better and I don't burp like a hippo every 5 minutes, lol.
8I think that too much of anything is bad. Still, this article is terrible: "Much of this conclusion stems from anecdotal and circumstantial evidence" What? Why don't you wait until you get the final results before publishing?
9Btw, I only have a coke every two months or so but I don't like this product-bashing based on filmsy proofs.
I don't smoke, I don't drink, I eat right, and exercise 4x weekly. and I sip my can of diet coke daily (guilt-free). My kidneys are working fine to cleans the toxins.
10Good to know.
What's bubble water? Sparkling mineral water?
11I've been considering cutting cola out of my diet but I think I'm addicted to it. I need to do it soon though because I know it's not good for me even if I do drink diet.
12Diet Mountain Dew it is... or Vault Zero. As long as there's caffeine and carbonation somewhere in there, I'm a happy girl.
13This is scary. I don't drink a lot of soda myself, but everyone I work with drinks multiple cans every day.
14If cola is really that bad, advert it like cigarettes. Which one is worse.?
I have been drinking cola 1 litres a day for years now. I stop during pregnancy, and after two days delivery, a start again. I am forty years, and fine.
