Beyonce is famed for her award winning music, thriving acting career and one hot, curvy bod. Maybe you can sing or act like her, but could you hula hoop like her...

It has been reported that Beyonce disclosed that one way she keeps such a hot bod is by hula hooping. I was skeptical so I researched hula hooping and it turns out that hula hooping is a great way to diversify your workout.
The Hula Hoop is one of the few ways to primarily target your troublesome middle area. With circular trunk movements, it directly works abdominal muscles, hips and waistlines. As a result, you gain a cardio and a strength workout. One minute of Hula Hooping can burn as many calories as running an eight-minute mile. Hula Hooping also promotes correct body alignment from the circular motions and proper posture in the upper body routines.

I'd do just about anything to have Beyonce's fabulous figure! Not so sure if I could hula hoop in my tiny apt but it sure beats the stairmaster!
1i'd never think of hula hooping. huh.
2yeah i with you, i love her curves. if hula hooping will help me get them then i'm all in.
3One of my mom's family friend has a hula hoop and she tells me she uses it for 2 hours a day. She used it for 2 pounds and dropped like 1-2 pounds. =/ I can't see how it's possible that a minute of hula hooping can burn as many calories as an 8-minute mile (that's like burning 100 calories in a minute of hula hooping, which is impossible as running burns more calories than almost any other exercise out there. It would be physically impossible to burn, say, 6000 calories in 1 hour of hula hooping--that meant you would be able to drop almost 2 lbs. in one hour of exercise.)
4Interesting point puddin. That info was according to the Cooper Institute, a health-based, nonprofit research and education center. In case the comparison was confusing, I think a better comparison is that you could burn more calories in 8 minutes of hula hooping than if you ran one mile in 8 minutes.
Try it out and let me know.
5Hula hooping!! Awesome! Well if boxers get fit by jumping rope, I can visualize curvy songstresses getting fit by hula hooping. That is genius; I love it!
6fitsugar--that would certainly make more sense, although I am still doubtful that standing in place while moving your core is going to burn more calories than using your legs and arms to propel yourself forward.
I think the way the sentence was written is very
misleading.
I did love hula hooping as a child, though!
7I'm really tempted to try this...do they sell anything similar to the 'heavy hoop' at sporting goods stores or do you have to order directly from that website (seems kind of over priced)?
8my friend is an amazing hoola-hooper and teaches classes in San Francisco. See's also putting out a video soon - you can check her stuff our at hoopgirl.com.
9i think it will be good to state here that body type..is also a factor here..beyonce is pear shaped...so if u r not..no hoopin can give u her body curves
10Woah - really? I'm pear-shaped! I'm so going to try this. I used to hula-hoop a lot when I was in primary school. It kind of hurts a little now so I hardly do it.
11Hmm.I may try this but come on now.50 bucks for hola-hoop with weight in them.I wonder could have the same results with hola-hoop that see in a toy store or something like that
