Cabbage is one of those healthy foods that people tend to avoid, but it really is a great alternative to lettuce and so good for you. My favorite type of cabbage is Napa cabbage, which tastes slightly sweeter than other types. Not only does it have a wonderful crunch, but it also has some seriously healthy attributes.
Cabbage is great for detoxifying your liver and studies have shown that it can help prevent prostate, colon and lung cancers. This is probably due to the fact that it is loaded with phytonutrients, which work to clear free radicals and toxins, including potential carcinogens from our systems. Not only that, but it is high in vitamin C as well as vitamin K, not to mention fiber. One of my favorite ways to eat Napa cabbage is in a simple salad with apples and caraway seeds. When you are sick of lettuce, this salad is a fun alternative. It pairs well with hearty, Winter dinners because it is crisp and light.

I seriously LOVE napa cabbage. It's much milder tasting than a lot of other leafy greens, but has more flavor than boring ol' lettuce. That recipe sounds really tasty, and it's also good as a base for a chinese chicken salad. Yum!
1Not a big cabbage fan...
2that looks soooo good.
3I remember when I wanted to make a sandwich in a hurry, so I took some mayo, tofu, tomatoe and what I thought was lettuce.
I put it all together on some wheat bread and took it for lunch.
I took a bite and thought OMG THIS IS NOT LETTUCE!
it was soo funny..but yummy ^^
This sounds great except for the caraway seeds. I hate them!
