I have been trying to eat lower on the food chain. The problem is though, my husband is a committed carnivore, but since I do most of the meal planning we have been eating a lot more beans and tofu. I am wondering about you. So tell me . . .

I live with a committed carnivore too Fit! I usually have some type of chicken or fish for dinner, when I don't bring my lunch I have some at lunch. Very seldom do we ever eat red meat though. More me than him
1No meat to me.
2I'm vegetarian. I'm just trying to stop eating cheese. It's not good to me but it's so yummy... =oP
i usually cook chicken or turkey during the week and maybe a steak if i'm in the mood. my husband is huge carnivore but thankfully has been worrying about his red meat consumption so that has made it easier for me to start introducing more vegetarian fare. usually my lunches are pretty much void of meat unless i go out to eat.
3We have chicken every night. Bacon at lunchtimes for him... I tend not to eat meat during the day. I was a veggie for 3 years and chicken is all I can stomach now.
4I stay away from any red meat. Usually my hubby and I will have either chicken or fish.
5Try to eat a lean meat, at least two to three ounces, at least twice a day. Usually fish or poultry. Very infrequently beef or pork.
6@ frogjuice, same for me - i've been trying to get off the cheese train but it's o so delicious. i guess i just have to go for it and explore soy cheese to tide me over until i stop missing it. any suggestions?
7read meat - once per week.
8Chicken 4-5 times per week.
I have the oddest eating habits.
I probably eat chicken once or twice a week and the same goes for fish.
I eat red meat once every two months.
I am really trying to do better as far as eating well rounded meals.
9i never eat red meat, but i do eat poultry and fish almost daily.
10A meat entree always seems easiest to make. I've always tried to eat fish more than other meats (and chicken second) but with all of the talk about mercury, it makes me nervous now.
11I voted three or four times a week although I normally eat about two times a week. At home I hardly ever eat meat or fish, but when I'm with my family or at my parent's house I always do.

13Usually about once a day, I'll eat poultry or fish. No red meat here. I was a vegetarian for about 11 years, before I reverted to being a carnivore again. I still prefer to eat meatless meals, more often than not. My boyfriend LOVED his meat, but I'm introducing him to a lot of vegetarian meals and he loves them.
14I eat meat a few times a week, not every day.
15I haven't eaten red meat or poultry for 11 years. I eat fish once every other month or so... generally just when we eat out. My fiance eats meat though, so I wind up cooking it for him 3-4 times a week. He is definitely a good sport though and will put up with my tofu and vegetables the other nights.
16Once a day at dinner for me; I also try to eat vegetarian dinners at least once or twice a week.
17I eat chicken or fish (5 oz.) at least 4 times a day with my meals. Otherwise, protein shakes sub for the meat. I love filet mignon, but that's a rare treat -- maybe once or twice a month.
18i only eat fish and chicken. no mammals for me!
19I tried to be a vegetarian a while back because I was getting sick all of the time and my DR. recommended it, but my body didn't respond well. Now I try to stick with lean chicken, turkey or fish cuts and I eat those about 4 out of 7 days a week.
I do eat red meat, aka hamburgers, whenever I get my period because that is the one thing I miss and my body craves.
20i voted 2 times a day but it's actually more like once. We usually have some kind of meat for dinner. Usually chicken. I hate fish, but I make it for my boyfriend sometimes.
21I eat chicken almost everyday, red meat and pork twice a month and fish about three times a month.
22I usually have a turkey sandwich for lunch, and then some chicken, fish, or pork with dinner. I don't eat much though...I don't usually exceed a 3oz portion size.
23I've been vegan for 8 years now mainly due to health reasons. Sinuses, headaches, fatigue, etc... all "disappeared" when I gave up meat, dairy ... all animal parts & products. My husband eats very little meat and although I've told me I would fix it for him if he wanted, the only time he'll eat meat is if he's out on a business dinner or lunch. Secretly I'm relieved!
24I NEVER eat red meat. However, I do have either some poultry (mostly chicken) or fish almost every day of the week.
25Though I voted for once a week, it's become that way this week. I'm going back to my once vegan diet to see if that helps some weird hormone issues I'm dealing with, since going vegan is cheaper than all organic, hormone-free meat and dairy as well as being generally healthier, assuming I replace the animal products with good quality vegetable nutrition. Luckily, I'm now also gluten-intolerant (I wasn't last time), so I'm less likely to just gorge myself on pasta the whole time.
26I don't eat red meat but I will eat chicken fish or even ham. I am trying to cut down on my meat consumption overall. I'm working on becoming a pesco-vegetarian aka a vegetarian that also eats fish. I don't know fish don't gross me out as much as chickens do!
27I don't eat red meat or poultry ever, but I have fish about once a week. Yum, seafood. I was vegetarian when I was in college out in middle-of-nowhere Iowa where there just wasn't good seafood, but as soon as I came back here (Washington state) I started eating it again. It's just so delicious!
28My parents are vegetarians, so if my mom makes us lunch, it's Indian vegetarian. And I DO NOT eat red meat.
29well i dont eat it every single day.. but pretty close!
30i usually have some kinda of meat in my meals.. maybe not lunch but DEF dinner.. i probably miss it 2-3 times AT MOST a week which i dont think is toooo toooo bad!
Luch, I usually have no meat.
31Dinner, I usually always have meat.
So about 6-7 times/week I eat meat with my meal.
Mmmmm red bloody streaks
every day. I am the committed carnivore. we usually eat chicken for dinner and lunch, but there's nothing like my boyfriend's cheeseburgers, the man is a genius when it comes to pattin patties!
32I'm trying to get off cheese too. I can't find soy cheese!
33Where's the once a day option?
I used to eat no meat (not even poultry or fish). Then a boyfriend who was also my workout partner convinced me to try eating at least chicken. I immediately got stronger and could lift more weight, so i was convinced. Then years later when i stopped taking birth control I didn't get my period for almost a year. An eastern medicine dr told me I should be eating red meat at least a couple times a week. So i did (but it was hard, mentally, at first) But i got healthier... again i was convinced.
It is very hard to be healthy and balanced without meat... at least for people like me.
34I've been vegetarian for years, I went vegan a few months ago. Now I'm going raw--no meat for me!
35Please excuse the poor punctuation in my last post! Haha. Where is the "edit" button? lol.
36I eat fish seafood, chicken most of the week, red meat once a week.
The only Pork we eat is ham sandwiches, my hubby isnt fond of pork.
37I've been a vegetarian since I was 10. My boyfriend's pretty good about it- he's content to eat veggies at home, although he ALWAYS orders meat when we're out. Last week, though, I convinced him to give up chicken. Shockingly, he's doing pretty good!
38why would you want to give up meat?
just cook it leaner, grill it with no added fat or wrap it in some foil and steam it.
simple, delicious and most of all... HEALTHY.
bring on the meaty protein!
39There are hundreds of reasons to give up meat, but I don't want to start a whole debate. For those of you trying to give up cheese: store bought soy cheese is disgusting. Don't even bother with it, unless you can find Sheese in your area. Go to Amazon and buy The Uncheese Cookbook by Joanne Stepaniak. It was REALLY hard for me to give up cheese, but that book helped.
40I only eat fish. My body actually doesn't digest meat...it just comes right back up. It's been that way my whole life. (I'm a freak, I know
My husband on the other hand is a born and raised farmer, so we have a lot of red meat in the house. He likely eats it about 3-4 times a week. I am slowly getting him into more fish and chicken though.
41Eat vegan about 80% of the time. Will have cheese once a week, and I dont get upset if a restaurant puts milk/cheese on something with out me realizing. But usually I avoid it or eat soy versions. I have fish out at restaurants maybe 1-2 per month. I never eat poultry or red meat.
42I'm veg, too. It is hard to give up cheese, I agree. Soy cheese sucks. You have to go without any cheese for a long time and then it tastes ok. I have been a vegetarian since I was ten, and had to cute out dairy for a couple years while my kids were nursing. I am thinking after this baby is born I am going to try to stick with no dairy at all. I started feeling crummy when I started eating it again last time!
43dang. CUT out dairy. not cute it out, lol.
44I'm a meat lover, definitely. I don't eat meat with every meal, but if it didn't have those oh so lovely calories and fat, I most likely would.
45I tend to eat more chicken and turkey than anything else. I do eat red meat on occasion, but not often (usually only if someone else is cooking it!). Most of the time I eat vegetarian with some meat sprinkled in here and there. Speaking of that, does anyone else remember that Outback Steakhouse commercial where the guy says he's a vegetarian...except he eats chicken, beef and pork? Then he says he's "semi-veg." I guess that's what you'd call me!
46I eat salmon or another type of seafood once or twice a week.
I also have turkey sandwiches for lunch a few times a week.
Other than that, I don't eat meat much at all. I hardly EVER eat red meat. I can't even remember the last time I did.
47I eat one serving (3 oz) of chicken or fish once a day. My other sources of protein are beans and nuts. I have to eat at least one serving of meat a day to be healthy (per medical lab tests).
I almost never eat red meat. Maybe once a year at the most. To compensate for this, I take an iron supplement.
48Lately, I've been on a big soup kick and I haven't been eating much meat at all. I'll have vegetable soup or chicken soup with a little bit of meat in it, but I don't usually eat a whole portion of meat or anything. Kinda weird, I know. I prefer to get my protein from eggs and nuts.
49I'm sure there are reasons to give up meat, but my body completely revolts against me when I do. I feel listless and ill all the time. As a result, I have to suck it up and spend a lot more on completely organic meats and wild caught fish. I also only drink organic milk and eat organic cheese. Expensive, but worth it. I also used to eat a lot of soy protein, but am a bit weary now because of all the new research.
