If you recently got your cholesterol or blood pressure checked, you may realize that your body could really benefit from cutting back on foods that are high in saturated fat. Adding more bean-and vegetable-based foods to your diet will not only keep you regular, but will also be good for your heart.

If you're used to eating hamburgers, and you don't want to give them up, Gardenburgers are a tasty alternative. They come in many wonderful flavors, such as one of my favorites, Sun-Dried Tomato Basil. Just how healthy are they? To find out read more

Okay, so they don't look like a real hamburger, and they definitely don't taste like one, but they do taste delicious and are really filling. Did you check out the amazing nutritional info? Only 1 gram of saturated fat per 100-calorie patty. Plus 5 grams of both fiber and protein. I love that you can see whole pieces of red bell peppers, corn, rice, rolled oats, sun-dried tomatoes, and basil. All those real ingredients make this patty taste fresh and savory.

Serving Size 1 patty
Calories 100
Total Fat 3g
Saturated Fat 1g
Cholesterol 5mg
Sodium 310mg
Carbs 15g
Fiber 5g
Sugar 2g

Fit's Tip: These Gardenburgers taste great on a bun or on an open-faced sandwich with lowfat cheese, tomatoes, and avocado. You can also cut up pieces and use it in your Shepherd's Pie, lasagna, or spaghetti in place of ground beef.

I love Gardenburgers! I think they are the best "burger/meat" alternative.

I love how so many restaurants now provide you with the option of switching out a hamburger for a Gardenburger or Boca burger (though gardenburgers are definitely better in my opinion).

I'm not really one for gardenburgers, but I do love the combo of tomato and basil, so I might have to try this out! I'm just going to have to tell myself ahead of time that it is not a burger I'm eating.

I LOVE Garden Burgers! I never eat regular burgers anymore, I just can't. I'd so much rather eat a veggie burger...they're so good.

If you have high blood pressure, you should NOT eat these. Look at all of that sodium for only 100 calories! They're certainly better than hamburger, but they should be avoided if you're trying to lower your blood pressure (I was told that a good rule of thumb for sodium is to make sure that the number of calories matches the milligrams of sodium, or the sodium is lower).

oooor, if your worrieded about the sodium or processed factor make some of your own! My boyfriend and I make "veggie" burgers with lentils, some breadcrumbs and a few other ingredients for flavor as the mood strikes. Keep a bunch individually wrapped in your freezer for late night snacks or a quick dinner. TONS of good lean protein and you know EVERYTHING that is in them, no surprises later. not to mention you can make every flavor. he takes them cold to lunch and just eats them as a spread on crackers, and i love mine grilled

I used to buy these a lot, but now I don't eat them as often because my husband won't let me get them. He claims they are a rip off and that we should be eating REAL meat. So I eat chicken breasts or 93% lean beef...but I miss my Boca burgers.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy veggie burgers, but they taste nothing like the real thing. Hamburgers are the only type of meat I ever crave, but I rarely give in. When I do, it's a piece of pure heaven.

I had one last night for dinner with some oven fries... yum! Veggie burgers are great when you use a special sauce, like BBQ sauce or homemade bleu cheese dressing (made with greek yogurt so it's low in fat). One of my favorite quick-and-easy meals, and I'm not even a vegetarian!

This is my favorite flavor too. In the summer, I add these to my salad with spinach, tomatoes, mozzerella and olive oil. Yum!
