We've been seeing pregnant Jessica Alba head to the gym quite a bit after we found out the big news. However, in her recent interview with CosmoGirl!, she attributes her prebaby figure to her diet, not her workout. She says she just eats right, giving up processed foods loaded with salt and preservatives — well, unless it's cheese. Here's more:

"I try to work out as much as I can. But the biggest change in my body came when I stopped eating processed food. I don't eat fast food or anything that's packaged or loaded with salt and preservatives. I eat as many organic and fresh foods as possible. I don't cut out cheese, I don't cut out carbs, I just eat fresh foods. It's made a huge difference in how I look and how I feel."
As a mother of two girls, I was especially pleased with this quote:
"Girls need to know that they can be sexy without showing skin. It's all about how your work it and how you carry yourself."
We all have weaknesses for certain foods, but if she really eats as well as she says she does and her only vice is cheese, well then you go girl. Though I do hope she enjoys her pregnancy and gives into cravings every once in a while.

Didn't I read somewhere on this blog before that she does over 60 mins on the eliptical every day and eats less than 1200 calories?
Uh huh. She's not fooling anybody~
1Kudos Jessica!
2Umm... Young girls dont have to show skin to be sexy- she's right.
3Maybe now she should lead by example. Stop posing for Maxim every 6 months, stop making movies where youre clothes are being ripped off- she's the biggest hypocrite in Hollywood... every guy I know has a picture of her in just her underwear(no bra) on their MySpace.
Yea I think I need to start doing that!
4I love cheese...i get the reduced fat one and keep my portions under check!
5"I eat as many organic and fresh foods as possible. I don't cut out cheese, I don't cut out carbs, I just eat fresh foods."
so i can eat AS MUCH apples as i want to make me feel full? haha
6Um, YAH...and SHE's the one that does sexy NAKED Maxim photoshoots? Hmmmmm.......
You KNOW she doesn't eat anything at all really!
7As much as I am not an Alba fan, she is totally right. I am very fit but always feel like there is room for improvement. I notice the biggest changes in my body when I am eating "clean" (i.e. only natural, whole foods) with whole grains, fruits, veggies and lean proteins. I can do an hour of cardio + weights a day, but if I am not eating clean, then I just don't see the same results. It makes such a huge difference. You also don't want to eat nearly as much as you do if you were eating processed foods because the protein and high fiber make you feel fuller longer. It really is the best approach. (Unlike Alba, I have quite a few more weeknesses than cheese though, and could never give them up forever ... I live in Chicago surrounded by the world's best deep dish pizza
!)
8Does anyone know how far along she is?
9She's just gorgeous...I love her and she looks great.
10thats so hard but i'm sure she is right!
11I agree with what she said about eating fresh and organic, but I don't for a second believe what she said about attributing her prebaby body simply to a clean diet. You can eat as clean as you want, but only with exercise can you achieve results like a toned body.
Exercise is just as important as your diet.
12Aren't you not supposed to do too much strenuous exercise when you're pregnant in case it puts stress on the baby? She has some good health tips but I question her preaching about not showing skin when most of her film roles are her being "the hot chick".
13Good point legalbeagle!
14as much as I love Jessica Alba all that working out is probably bad for u!!! Is she trying 2 kill the baby!!!
15My friend did the elliptical while pregnant pretty intense and her baby is fine!
16I find it hard to take her or her statements seriously. She comes across as uptight and self-important.
17shes right about girls shouldnt show skin to be sexy,,BUT,,, it just doesnt fit her saying that. She is always showing skin. ALWAYS. soooo... she needs to stop. And she says that she works out all the time,, just last month she said that she only drinks water and doesnt workout. WEIRDO.
18She seems like such a b!tch. Enough of her already!!
19As much as I think she's exaggerating about her exercise routine and the role that plays in how she looks, I have to agree with her about the food thing. I made a quick, radical change in what and how I ate and my body followed suit. Cutting out processed foods, soda, fruit juice, fried foods, cream-based foods, etc. all at once really did make a difference in my weight. I lost 15-18 pounds in less than a year eating tons of fruit, vegetables, fish and chicken. That was without exercise, and when you weigh less than 120 pounds, that a lot. Now, I'm a little more flexible in what I eat and I exercise more, so I feel better and I'm at a more 'healthy' weight.
20I don't care much for her, but I think she's really concerned about baby weight. That's probably why she's been working out so much and visiting the gym hardcore. It's fine to work out when you're pregnant, you just have to be sure to not get your heart rate above 135 bpm. My sis worked out during her pregnancy and her baby was fine.
21While I totally agree with her on the issue of healthy eating, i.e. basically cutting out processed food and opt for fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, fish and cheese, physical exercise is absolutely necessary to obtain a fit body. I do not believe that one has to spend hours at the gym every day like she does; in fact, a daily walk can be just as effective for those of us who do not aspire to be on the cover of Maxim...
22I have lost all the weight I gained during my pregnancy in less than 3 months and my body actually feels better than ever, simply from the fact that I eat very healthy (my diet does include organic dark chocolate, though!) and take daily walks. Breastfeeding obviously plays a role in the shredding of baby weight as well - it is amazing how much one can eat and still lose weight when breastfeeding!
I do exactly the same as she does and it works for me. Sure I do have some vices, but generally I also try to avoid processed food. And specially, fast food. I haven't tried fast food in years and I don't miss it.
23She's so full of it. In Allure this month she says before she got pregnant she'd have a coffee for breakfast, a yoghurt for lunch and only eat dinner. ("I never had time to eat" - b.s)
24She's full of it. Such a bad example to young girls. If she weren't famous that'd be called an eating disorder, never mind how stupid it is to work out without proper sports nutrition.
She probably needs the cheese to ward off the osteoporosis caused by improper nutrition.
