We all play favorites when it comes to sports and it looks like soccer is FitSugar's readers' favorite sport to play. This is especially cool since a recent study found that soccer beats running in weight loss as well as fun. There's a great camaraderie that develops in team sports and all volleyball fans were a little offended that volleyball was not a choice. Sorry for the omission, but I must say I am looking forward to watching women's beach volleyball at the upcoming Olympics.

On the other end of the workout spectrum, we all have a favorite cardio machine, and those machines sometimes seem like sporting events. Well, the votes are in and it looks like FitSugar readers are in love with the elliptical; it is so kind on the knees and going backwards ensures that you are targeting all parts of your legs. The trusty treadmill came in second place. The machine is a great way to run indoors and in a controlled environment.
Whether you get your heart rate up chasing a ball or climbing a StepMill, the important thing is that you're exercising!

Yay for soccer! I love it and ever since our indoor facility closed a few years ago - I haven't found anything that I'm as passionate about. Kickboxing has come close though.
1since i got no friends to exercise together with...
RUNNING (and/or jogging) is #1 for me
2Well, this article says running isn't fun. I've ran on my high school's XC team for 2 years and I LOOOVE running. People are really scared to try it because of how long it takes to build endurance. DON'T BE SCARED. Try it. Don't just give it a day, give it about a month, because you won't do good on your first day. It will take about a month to build the first level of endurance. And do it with someone that already runs or someone that you know will push you to succeed.
3Yeah, I think running is fun too! And you can ALWAYS run, but you need a bunch of other people to play soccer. I do actually like playing soccer though. It's like football but not as violent, lol.
4I love the elliptical!
5I love running as well but I don't really see the point of the treadmill since I'd much rather just run outside instead: the scenery is much better and the air is fresh. If I take the trouble of going to the gym I'd much rather do something I can't do on my own without gym equipment.
That's the same reason I never use the cycling machine; I cycle everywhere around town already.
