Now that it's 2008, I'm sure many of you are making New Year's resolutions to eat healthier, quit smoking, and be more active. Those are great goals that benefit your body,
and here's another one to add to your list. Go to the doctor and get your cholesterol and blood pressure checked.
The numbers you get back will be great indicators of how your present lifestyle is affecting your health, and it will give you a sense of which areas need to change or improve. Your doctor will also be able to recommend diet or fitness goals that could help get your numbers to a normal level. Maybe you need to cut back on eating foods that are high in cholesterol and saturated fat, or maybe your cholesterol levels are perfect and you just need to keep on doing what you're doing. You'll never know unless you get checked, and you'll feel much better once you do.
Fit's Tips: While you're at it, encourage your family and friends to get their cholesterol and blood pressure checked too. It could save the life of someone you love.

My boyfriend's approach is "if I don't know, then it doesn't affect me" ...this scares me.
1The challenge that we have most people is that they always think: "It will never happen to me!" and that is one of the main reason people do not bother to check their cholesterol level. I just hope we are able to spread the message and encourage more people to at least know their cholesterol level.

I got them checked this summer. My blood pressure is normal, but I was shocked to find out that my cholesterol level is a shocking 1.5 times the recommended level!!!
3I think I read somewhere saying that there is no co-relation between blood pressure and cholesterol level. The blood pressure is how much pressure needed to be pumped to circulate your blood system whereas the cholesterol is what is within your blood stream. I think that is how it is.
