1Equinox rulez!!!
I love it there!
2I don't go to any of these
3I liek my own little gym where I know everyone and feel comfortable with everyone!
Why isn't there an OTHER option!??! How about WORLD GYM!
4I don't have a membership at the moment. However, I am getting ready to go back to Gold's gym. There prices are reasonable, low initiation fees, and the have my favorite class. BODY PUMP!!!
5I agree with Renees3. We need an 'Other' option. I love my gym. It's family owned and it's a bit pricey. However, the gym is as neat as a pin and the staff is super friendly!
I've been to a Bally's and hated it. I'll never go back.
6Gold's Gym all the way baby!!! My boyfriend works there....so if anyone is from MN and wants a good deal...let me know!
7I like my golds gym. Don't love, but like it enough.
8I go to Bally's. There is one down the road from me with the essentials (ellipticals, treadmills, bikes, machines, free weights, sauna, hot tub, dance room) but there is another one about 5 miles away with all the great stuff, raquet ball courts, a swimming pool (which we frequent every week).
The employees are very nice. The guy that runs our branch is very helpful & really motivaitonal. Every time I'm on a machine & he's sees me, he'll come over and push me a little.
I'm happy with them!
9My friend and I signed up together and for 30 bucks a month we can go to any Bally's in the country. And in 3 years, it will only be like 15 bucks a month! Love it.
I switched to Equinox from Bally's. My Bally's (the one on Clark and Diversy in Chicago) was the worst gym in the history of the world. I actually saw roaches there on three occasions. Changing to Equinox was the best upgrade I ever made. It is clean, up-to-date, and well maintained. And the staff is so friendly and polite, unlike the chamers at my old Bally's. Yay Equinox!
10I used to work out at 24 Hour and HATED the one by my house. Then they opened LA Fitness and I love it! My only complaint is that there isn't enough classes!
11I love my gym at school because its FREEEEEEEEEE! Cant beat that!
12i'm a member of a local gym, now, but i voted for Gold's because there was no "other" choice! i was a member there in the past and really liked it, but i found that the one in the city where i live now is too expensive! i was also a member at bally's and, like jkat, had a HORRIFIC experience. lights were always burned out and it was like a cave it was filthy and unkempt. it has since been closed, thank god!!!
13Mines isnt on there. Sport and Health
14I'm like alibella - I use my college's gym and it's free! Also it's women only, so I like that.
One of the commenters said that the owner of her gym comes and pushes her to work harder when he sees her on a machine...I would hate that! But to each her own
15After years of gym memberships, I found working out at home was the most effective and motivating. However, if I had to choose, I would pick 24-H based solely on most locations being open 24-hours. It was always frustrating trying to find a reasonable cost gym with decent hours. Not everyone has the same schedule and it is important for gyms to recognize that!
16Sports Club LA! And the YMCA
17CHELSEA PIERSSSS!
18My own.
It's always just the way I want it - go figure. lol.
19Goodlife fitness, but I live in Canada. It's the best though if anyone is ever in Canada. There should have been a other option.
20i voted for lifetime b/c i used to workout there and it was a fantastic gym, they had everything there plus they were open 24 hrs a day!! now i work out at pivotal fitness, its alright but i liked lifetime much better!!!
21what about LA Fitness?? I love it!
22Ehhh, I usually stay and work out at my house. But if I were to go to a gym, it would be Gold's. My brother is a personal trainer there, so I picked that one.
23LA Fitness!!
24GOLD'S! Because Les Mills classes are the greatest! (And I don't just say that because I teach one of them
)
25Planet Fitness! I used to go to the YMCA, and I loved that even more than Planet Fitness b/c it had a pool, classes, etc. But you can't beat PF's $15/month membership!
26I 2nd Planet Fitness. Cheap and 24 hrs here! I've taken to a right-before-bed workout, recently. I just don't dig the weight section around 7-9pm... can be kind of rough that way...
27I work at a Y and I love working out there because it is totally comfortable because people of all ages and fitness levels work out there.
2824!
29Definitely Crunch! They're motto is "no judgement" I like that. The atmosphere is very low key- people don't dress in designer work out gear. You can wear old sweat pants and no one will sneer at you. It's the Crunch gyms I've been to are very well designed- great aethetics.
30The JCC
31I go to Fitness First. I was previously a member of LA Fitness and they were class A AWFUL!!
I also rarely use the sauna.
32Fitness First is OK but there is no pool.
lol i don't have access to any of these gyms, and i think my own room gym is the best i have everything, well other than treadmill
33I love Equinox. They have a great variety of classes and convenient times. Plus their classes are so clever and different I'm never bored and I'm not always using the same muscles in the same ways.
34equinox is my favorite gym. moving back to NYC and getting a memebership there again made my workouts soo much nicer. it's soo clean and pretty and just a great environment to work out in
35There definitely needed to be an "other" button! I have a membership to Cardinal Fitness. It's a no frills gym but they have a ton of locations. There are no classes, but they do have personal trainers on staff and LOADS of free weights, machines and cardio to choose from. I also work out at a local studio to get my group fitness fix. Renew Yoga & Fitness in Indianapolis - if anyone is from around the area check out their site! www.renewstudios.com
36The YMCA is affordable and nice! Way to go Y WOOO!
37WHERE'S PLANET FITNESS!?
38Tutta - Why didn't you like 24HourFitness? I'm curious. I really like the idea of it and I was planning on joining one when I moved to a bigger city.
I'm a member of Gold's Gym, but not a huge fan of it. I used to go to this privately owned gym just for women before I had to move to the town I currently live in. It was soooo wonderful with all the equipment, private changing rooms, jacuzzis, a spa-like atmosphere. The fact that it was only women was my favorite part. I hate all the gym is like a pickup joint to some people. I miss it so much. They spoiled me for any other gym.
LAFitness needs to be on this list too. They just opened up a huge one near my home. They're growing.
39I'm a member of Washington Sports Club, and I love it!
40YMCA is one of my faves but we are members of The Valley - it's totally kid friendly.
