If green tea is your favorite form of caffeine, then I've got some great news for you. According to research presented at the Sixth International Conference on Frontiers in Cancer Prevention, green-tea extract may help to prevent colon cancer.
So far, the green-tea extract has been successful in fighting cancer in rats. When rats were fed a diet containing this extract, and then injected with tumor-causing azoxymethane (a chemical known to produce colorectal tumors that share many characteristics with colorectal cancer in humans), only 27 percent of the rats developed malignant tumors. Which is considerably lower than the rats who were not give green-tea extract – 67 percent of them developed malignant tumors.
The tumors found in the rats that were given the green-tea extract were also much smaller. When researchers examined those tumors, they found green-tea extract in them. This could be the start of using green tea in prevention and treatment of colon cancer in humans. Sounds like a great reason to sit back and enjoy a relaxing cup.

i love green tea- and also white tea.
1green tea is terrific - but I feel that the caffeine in it is minimal and it shouldn't be classed as "caffinated beverage" in the same way as coffee, soda or even black tea is.
2Mmm I like green tea - but I am a tea fanatic anyways! About 2 months ago i switched form coffee to tea and so far I feel SO much better and healthier!
3I love green team, especially Japan...I love the soft sweet taste. But my favorite source of caffeine is the beautifully black pu erh. I agree with wambalus, green tea is not a caffeinated drink in the same way as coffee and the like.
4haha, green tea, not team, of course
5i have some questions about what tea brand to buy at the store. i went to a lecture on tea a few months ago, given by a biomedical researcher who focuses on tea leaf research. he said that some brands (i guess the cheaper ones) don't use the best part of the leaf and use parts that don't provide health benefits. what brands are good to buy?
also, he said that if you want to get rid of the caffeine, make a regular cup of tea, and then spill that one out. then make another cup using the same bag, and it will still have the nutritional benefits w/o the caffeine.
6I love tea. Period! I love earl gray, green tea, white tea and tons of other herbals teas. If it weren't for tea I would have a hard time hitting my water intake goals.
7mmmmm, I love green tea. I'm going to China in 2 weeks and I'm super excited to drink high-quality, fresh green tea!
8pebby01, I would say that the best tea is not in bags. Try to find some kind of tea shop where you live. You will also find people who are able to give you an advice on tea there. According to what I remember I've read about tea, the most expensive Japanese green tea sorts are of the best quality.
9I usually steep the tea in hot water for the first time, then pour it out and wait till the water cools down to warm or tepid. Then I can steep it even 4-5 times, it still tastes great.
Green tea is yummy, I'm going to make myself a cup:-)
I LOVE green tea, it's so good. I drink it every couple of days or so.
10I am not a fan of green tea but since colon issues run in my family I should make myself drink it.
11I wonder whether the temperature makes a difference. I prefer tea both hot and cold.
12I drin green tea and earl gray tea so much like i drink ever hour of day
