With all this holiday travel going on, can you navigate your way through a day of airport eating. For this quiz, you want to try and pick the food with the fewest amount of calories. Good luck!
4/6, not too bad!
1I had no idea about the hot dog
Really, some of these items may have less calories but are they healthier? I would hope I could find even healthier choices than this quick came up with.
25/6, can't complain there! good tips for my holiday travels, too!
3Hmm, I'd still go for the chicken and rice over the hot dog and chips any day.
4I failed miserably! I just try to stick with my own snacks. But maybe I can afford to cut loose a little now!
5Honestly, I don't think I would have eaten any of those things (and choosing between chicken or a hot dog is pretty hard for a vegetarian). If I must eat at the airport, I'll find the bar and have a glass of wine then grab a granola bar at the newsstand.
6I don't mean to whine, but I disagree about the peanuts vs. pretzels question. The pretzels may have 30 less calories, but the peanuts have protein and fat which will keep you feeling full longer.
7I think I would be sick if I had to eat any of those things, save the pretzels or peanuts.
8any of those options per question are still higher in cals than i'd want. i usually bring something just in case
9i still would want the peanuts... i find nuts more satisfying than pretzels so i'd probably end up eating more pretzels...stupid airplanes and their tiny food baggies.
10I took a stab at what I thought the right answers would be. But honestly, I would eat the wrapper before I'd eat an egg mcmuffin. And I won't even touch the hot dog.
I think the quiz took calories into consideration, not really looking at the healthfulness of the choices. But then we are talking about airport food....
112/6....bad
12The sodium content is scary!
13Most of the items are not things I'd eat. But having traveled a ton, more often than not, I've found myself facing similar choices. Some airports are better than others and it also depends on the terminal and time. Sometimes you just need to make the best of a bad situation.
14I'm shocked! Glad I read this before I fly to San Francisco next week
:)
15I am flying on Friday!!
16i'll have mineral water and salmon sandwitch during the flight
17These questions were not a great general census of what I eat when traveling, but whatever. I travel often and eating well and healthy is a challenge. I try to drink tons of water, bring packets of EmergenC and airborne and mix those into my water as well. I also try to pick up a salad and fruit or a sandwich and stay away from salty and sweet, especially on transatlantic flights.
I fly in business class pretty often where we are given a meal and I try to pick the healthiest choice on that menu. Getting stuck in airports is difficult, but sometimes, I find spending time drinking tea in the Red Carpet Club and grabbing an apple or yogurt from their selections makes it easier to avoid all the junk food. And then some airports have decent restaurants and other, well, we all know what choices we are faced with.
18I actually knew the right answers...but I answered what I would really eat. The peanuts because they had more protein and I just don't like tomato juice or hot dogs.
19Agree with most of these comments, I would not even think of eating most of the food items on this list. I still think peanuts are better for you than pretzels. What nutrition do you get from them?
