Get Your Butt in Gear: Title Nine Underwire Bra

My buddy CasaSugar was very excited about a new running bra. So excited that I asked her to write about it so I could share her review with you. Here is what Casa had to say about her new Cuz-She-Says-So Underwire Bra ($39).

I'm a recent running convert, and I have to admit that I've written off running for years due to my rather plentiful bounty of up-top lady lumps. Since starting running, I've been wearing two sports bras at once, and this weekend I grew tired of this strapping-down and layering-up of the spandex, and walked into the Title Nine women's sports store in Berkeley, California.

I left with the Cuz-She-Says-So Underwire Bra ($39).

To find out how it worked, as well as to hear about this bra's features, just read more

When I put my bra on for my run last night, I was a little skeptical. I'm a 36D, and bouncing is a fact of life. My fiancé was even less enthusiastic, "You look small; small is not better," he complained. (This is a point on which he and I agree to disagree.)

I didn't realize until halfway into my run that . . . I wasn't bouncing! Holy cow, it was a weird feeling — and a very comfortable one at that. Title 9 rates this bra as a Four Barbell bra out of a possible five, which means it's supposed to be great for big-breasted ladies like me. I also like that the underwire offers definition and doesn't give me the potato boob that is often the effect of nonunderwire bras. I offer a very enthusiastic positive recommendation of this bra! The only bummer is that, like most large-chested bras, this one is only available in white and beige.

Here's a little more about the bras features:

  • Construction of breathable Coolmax mesh
  • Inexpensive at just under $40
  • Underwire provides excellent support
  • Adjustable-shoulder and back straps ensure you'll get a great fit
  • Sizes range from 32B to 40DD!

How exciting! It's so hard to find a bra that controls the bounce. Great review! I'm going to pass this info on to a friend with the same problem.

I'm a 32DDD, so it's Enell bras only for me, and even at that, I don't run anymore. I've read that running creates an impact that is 2.5 times your body weight for each stride, and can lead to knee, ankle, hip, and other joint injuries, stretch the ligaments in your breasts, and in women the increased hip-to-knee-ratio makes it even harder on your knees than it is for men.

Studies go back and forth on these points, but as a DDD who already worries her breasts will sag because of their size, and as someone with on-and-off knee pain, I just find other forms of cardio, even though I like running.

The Title Nine phone staff are awesome. They're super knowledgeable and will answer your questions about product and fit. They also offer a great selection for all the different sizes.

I remember when I wore a 36D, I had this crazy bra sandwich thing that I would do. I'd wear a 36D underwire on the bottom, a sports bra on top of that, and I'd top it off with a 36C sports bra.

    I still bounced.

I was advised to buy an enell, since they are made to fit "everyone." I still bounced. I figure I need to order a custom one to get the fabled "no bounce", but I don't have an extra 80 dollars to spend on a bra.

I've really given up any hope on not bouncing.

    Hi Everyone,

I have to say that the things I love about running include 1) exercising with my dog; 2) that great endorphin rush; and 3) getting my heart rate up and keeping it up. I never did like the bouncing though.

I never thought to use an underwire sports bra before and it has definitely been a real eye-opener for me! It really minimizes things, and when I was at Title 9 they advised me to jump up and down, which I did, and I bounced when I did that (I still may never be able to double dutch bounce-free), but when I run, it is very, very minimal in this bra.

This sounds great for women with big breasts. I have small boobies so I don't have a huge problem with the bounce while running Laughing out loud Anyway sounds like a great product Smiling

I'm a runner, too, who is heavily endowed on top. I am always concerned when a car goes by while I'm running because I know I'm giving the driver more to look at than what he/she bargained for. It's so embarassing! I'm so glad I read this review, and I will definitely try this sport's bra out!

    OoOoOoOo!!!

I'm joining a gym in a few weeks and am in desperate need of some good sports bras for the treadmill and cardio classes. I'm a 36DD and even when I was skinny and down a cup size to a 36D, I used to wear two, sometimes THREE sports bras at a time.

Adding my 2 cents... I really like Moving Comfort's Fiona & Athena bras. I'm not a fan of underwire or of racerback bras. These both have velcro adjustable straps, triple hook closure, and a really wide supportive band. I'm a 32D and although I am not a runner, I am an elliptical freak. My pace on the elliptical is about a 10-minute mile, if that makes any sense, and these control the bounce very well.

I like Moving Comfort's Fiona but I can't run in it without doubling up. I use it for yoga.

Awesome. Right now I'm having to wear a regular bra with a Nike sports bra and it's frustrating!

    I'm a 36D as well.
I have been using an underwire sports bra that I found at a Kohl's (Department store for those not familiar).
I don't recall the brand, but I don't have as much as a raving reveiw about that one.
I'll have to look this up!
