If you are a daily mascara user, there's something you should know. Each time you stroke mascara onto your lashes the applicator picks up lots of bacteria that are resting there - then you put it back into a nice, dark, warm tube where they breed. Lovely.
Put the date on your tube - after 3 months toss it - whether it's finished or not. Keeping it longer than 3 months puts you in danger of a nasty eye infection. And besides FabSugar has the scoop on all of the new mascaras out there and now you have a great excuse to give them a try.
And in case you didn't already know this, avoid sharing your mascara with friends - it's another germ spreader.
Fit's Tip: If you are an occasional mascara wearer, keep it in the fridge, and it'll be good for 6 months. But you might find it too annoying to apply because it gets thick when it's cold.

Ouch I'd completely forgotten about that 3 months thing! I'm totally gonna throw away at least 2 of my 3 mascaras (and they were getting a bit dry anyway) and stop buying too many at the same time cause obviously I can't use them fast enough. Thanks a lot for the reminder, Fit!
And is there anything more annoying than friends/flatmates who always want to use your makeup? I always have to come up with stupid excuses for not sharing it because they really don't get the "sharing makeup is gross" thing, and just assume I'm either weird or think they're dirty people. Or both.
1LOL. love the "breed" comment, Fit! i've heard you can't keep most cosmetics for more than 3-5 months in general. but keeping the mascara in the fridge is def a new one for me! will try it! (:
so right Advah! i cant stand it either! especially when i barely knw 'em and they wanna share stuff like lippies or gloss. gross! worst thing? eyeliners! imagine all their goo (possible!) getting on ur liner! eeks!
