I am not sure if any of you saw Oprah's show this week about weight loss, but it was inspiring — to say the least. Guests on the show had lost a significant amount of weight without the help of pills or surgery. One female guest (pictured here) even lost a whooping 530 pounds. The best part? She credited the Internet as being a major player in her decision to lose weight.
There were a few common threads behind all their unhealthy habits they shared before losing the weight, such as: drinking a lot of soda, binging late at night, sugar addictions, major lack of exercise, and eating way too much fast food.
Each person had their own reasons and methods for losing weight. However, again, I saw a few common threads in their methods, such as: cutting back on refined carbohydrates, cutting out junk food altogether, starting an exercise program, strength training, and eating five to six times per day.
Losing 10, 20 or even 50 pounds pales in comparison with the hundreds of pounds these folks lost. All you have to do is start with baby steps and before you know it you'll be jogging strides. If they can do it, so can you.

I saw this episode and kept it on my tivo for motivation. I am so happy for everyone on that episode and if they can lose 100's of pounds surely I can get to my goal weight!
1I was also inspired by these people and their great accomplishments. I want to hear though what women did when they just needed to lose 10-20 pounds. those are hard too! for me, I have to practically starve myself to get those few pounds off. it's hard to keep motivated when you see so little results.
2I agree with you KrisSugar...my goal is to lose 46 pounds, and I've only lost 6 of them...and I've been dieting (not extremely strict) and exercising (pretty consistent) for like 3 months! It's so hard...I didn't see this show. How long did it take these people to lose all the weight?
3Wow this is insane. Kudos to them!!
4These people can lose hundreds of lbs and i cant lose 10 after a few months. SO much congratulations to them.
5One of those women is from the Weight Watchers Message board that I read! And as someone whose trying to lose a good chunk of weight also, the weight comes off faster at the beginning and then slows down.
6These people have had to lose the last 10 pounds also. They just had a lot longer to figure out how to do it. I can't recommend Weight Watchers enough actually.
Dang wish I could have been on that show! I have 120 on my belt well off my belt I guess. Im still trying to at least 15 more .. but its so hard because I weight train and muscle ways more then fat. It took me 1.5 years to lose but I did it naturally no surgery .. I often wonder about drastic weight loss situations if its surgery or actual dieting????
7Wow these pics are amazing... I missed this show (dang it).
8Wow, Country Betty...that's great! How did you do it? I still have 40 to lose!
9wow, that's amazing. If they can do that, i think I can totally lose that last 10 lbs.
10Congrats Country Betty! that is really awesome!
11WONDERFUL!!! I'm so happy for all of them! what inspiration!!!
12I missed it! Do you think it will rerun anytime soon?
13A.
May-
ZING!
These people are really inspiring... wish I had caught the show!
14Country Betty that is so awesome! It is so hard to lose so much weight, and it is good to hear that you did it without surgery. I have a lot to lose and am getting pressure from my doctor to have surgery. Psychologically, I don't think I could handle it.
15I am so impressed by these people! Its unreal to think someone could lose half or more than half their body weight and still be able to live
16While I commend these people for losing so much weight ,I could never understand how they can let themselves get to this point in the first place.
17WOAH.
18Exactly, Nikodarling. How about self-respect and portion control. Our bodies aren't trash cans. And even the most delicious food gets sickening when you eat too much of it.
19I watched part of the show and it was SO inspiring! One dude lost a couple hundred pounds and he showed a video of how much loose skin he had...it was astounding! I'm glad I didn't have THAT much loose skin when I lost weight, but he really did look a lot happier.
20wow
21what a patience they have..but I guess the excessive weight drops fast anyway, unlike the stubborn little ones..grrrrr 5lbs sometimes would be sooo hard to lose!
Yes, well done and better late than never but...
Why should you at all pile on several HUNDREDS of pounds before you do something with it? I mean to be 500 pounds you have to pass 200, 300, 400... !!! How can this just "happen"?? The thought of the vast amount of fat and sugar these people must have eaten makes me sick!
