When you're out running holiday errands, do you stop at Starbucks for a little pick-me-up? Let me tell you: Those cups are full of more than holiday cheer; some of the drinks pack in an amazing amount of calories and fat into a 16 ounce cup. Not surprisingly, that Eggnog Latte is the worst offender, but thankfully it doesn't come with whipped cream. Even without the extra dollop of saturated fat, this holiday latte contains almost 25 percent of your daily caloric intake.

Fit's Tips: Of course, I think you should order your espresso drinks with non-fat milk and no whip, since this cuts a serious amount of calories off most drinks. If you are looking to cut back on caffeine avoid the Peppermint Mocha since it has an additional 25 mg of caffeine. If you are cutting back on sugar, you can order your Gingerbread Latte with sugar free syrup, or try it with a half pump of syrup.

Luckily, I don't really like hot drinks, so I don't have to worry about this!
1This is the one indulgence that I allow myself a couple of times a week -- good to know that the Gingerbread Latte is my best (bad) choice.
2same here martha. i LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the holiday drinks from starbucks. esp. the gingerbread and eggnog lattes. nothing says holiday to me more..when i lived in TX it was so hot it was hard to remember it was christmas time..starbucks holiday drinks reminded me!
3A tall Sugar Free Gingerbread Latte Non fat milk no whip is like 85 calories...go for that
4I was going to get a Peppermint Mocha (with whip, mind you) this afternoon, but now you've made me face the harsh reality. It's just not in my calorie budget for today... I suppose my Rear thanks you!
5im obsessed with the peppermint hot chocolate its my fave holiday drink from them, i get it grande sized and nonfat with no whip. i think its okay in the calorie department, but who knows.
6eep. i love the peppermint mocha. grande w/ soy milk no whip
7I will never have anything from there ever.
Talk about calories!
8This makes me a little sad. Those peppermint mochas are sooo good, especially during finals time. Le sigh.
9I am surprised that the mocha isn't so bad. BTW, they make sugar-free gingerbread?? I had no idea, I'm excited!
10I have to admit that the Peppermint Mocha is a drink that I would order year round. It really is incredible. I have, however, quit my Starbucks addiction. I'm 6 months off and am feeling much healthier now
11i like it.. but i only treat myself.. maybe once a month!!.. its loaded full of calories!! and its hard cuz in every Safeway there is a Starbucks! so when i go shopping.. im like mmmm coffee!! but i must resist!!
12Ack! I hate the peppermint mocha. It was way too caffinated and pepperminty for me.
I should try to gingerbread, but I am scared too. I knew the gingerbread would be the best bet!
13Thanks for the info
14Here's a thought: don't get the grande size! Starbucks holiday drinks come once and year and I'm going to enjoy them while they last. But I get a tall gingerbread latte. Never grande.
15I use starbucks as a treat, not as a daily drink, or even weekly. I looked up my tall chai latte made with soy milk, no whip. It comes in at 170 cals. Which isn't bad, but definitely isn't good either. I guess its good I only get them once in awhile. And hey, sure beats a slice of cake for my sugar fix!
16omg that's funny. i didn't even notice that this was for a grande size until fleur mentioned it! um, guess my triple venti gingerbread latte (nowhip) is not even worth looking up!
17The gingerbread, nonfat/no whip, is about on par with 16oz of soda, which makes it seem like an okay indulgence to me.
18i've given up starbucks, though i loved the odd chai tea latte during my pregnancy. now, i don't live near one so there's no way i can get a fix, but before that i found the drinks were so milky they did funny things to my tummy, so had to cut down anyway.
19bleh i really hate coffee but i do love their hot chocolate!
20I loved their gingerbread latte but two years running I haven't touched one!
21Tall Sugar-Free, Nonfat Gingerbread Latte is ONLY 90 calories...
probably a helpful thing to post the better drink options than just making it seem like they are all bad. A grande is 120.
22My drink is usually the White Chocolate Latte...with whip. I know its packed with calories, yet i order one every morning. Seeing this post made me realize that i could cut the calories by just asking for non-fat milk and no whip. YAY! dont know why i didnt think of it before. Duh!!
Thanks fitsugar!
ps...that peppermint drink sounds AWESOME
23I never usually get these but an indulgence every once in awhile doesn't hurt. The coffee shop I frequent had a holiday blackberry swiss mocha I tried yesterday that was AWESOME. (Of course no whip and skim milk)
24I don't feel so bad anymore, because I get the gingerbread latte about 3x a week before class (finals time!) and it really peps me up and it's definitely worth only 250 calories. I'm glad to know that my favorite one is the lowest calories! I figured it'd be closer to 400+ calories. Yay!!!
25those drinks are crazy sweet and filling. why would anyone even need to get a grande? just get a tall one.
26So even a fat free drink has all of those calories?!?!?! EEK!!
27i don't like any of those drinks, so i guess i'm safe!
28I love starbucks, but all of these milk-filled, sugary drinks are too rich for me. I always just get a plain coffee or tea. costs less, fewer calories, and I don't feel ill afterwards.
29how is the difference between a non-fat eggnog latte and a 2% one only 20 calories?
30For all of the others, the difference is 50 calories. hmmmm, interesting.
Eggnog is gross!! So not worth all those cals!
31Talls, grandes, and ventis get 3, 4, and 5 pumps of syrup, respectively (iced ventis get 6). If you were to get a peppermint mocha, there are three pumps of EACH syrup in the drink, which accounts for a good number of calories. You can ask for half the amount of pumps of each syrup and cut calories that way (or you just don't want it as sweet).
-your friendly neighborhood barista =)
32Tall sugar free non fat gingebreat late for me thank you. Mmmm
33thanks for the info...i had no idea how much calories are in these drinks! >_<</p> 34
Oh, thank you for posting these breakdowns for Starbucks! I remember them whenever I'm there and stick to my usually green tea!
35What about sugar free gingerbread?
36You need to add in the hot chocolates! I love a tall non-fat peppermint hot chocolate with no whip...it is my treat once a week!
37The Peppermint Hot Chocolate is TO DIE FOR!!
It creams (Sorry for the semi pun) the normal Hot Chocolate. I order it all year long, I don't care about the holiday menus. They still have the stuff around in Summer.
Btw, anyone else LOVE the Red Cups? I look forward to them every year. And I remember last year they had a bunch of different holder things, but this year it seems they only have the blue.
38yuck. starbucks is evil! Almost all of their coffee is grown using underpaid third world labor, they create a cookie-cutter formula of what a coffee shop should be, and they serve drinks which are incredibly bad for you!!!! if you must drink this slop, please support your local coffee shope and/or pleeease buy fair-trade.
39There really is no such thing as a nonfat eggnog latte. It's about 2/3 eggnog, 1/3 milk, so you can ask for nonfat, but the difference is negligible. It's *eggnog* for the love of pete! It' not low fat.
40like mtiger i also don't like hot drinks but it's good to know that whipped cream is 70 kcal!
41i allow these for myself as a treat every once in a while over the holidays. looks like i'll be choosing the sugar-free gingerbread latte, nonfat no whip.
