Cold and flu season is fast approaching and during this germ filled time vitamin C is your ally. While it might not prevent you from catching a cold, taking vitamin C can reduce the severity and duration of your cold. Plus it is great for your skin too.
The recommended daily intake (RDI) of vitamin C is 75 mg, and I want to know...

Every time I go on holiday to the US I bring back boxes of Emergenc C - it's so tasty!
1Strawberries, bananas, and sweet potatoes. =)
Oh and pineapple. Mmmm
2Hey Ava.. where are you from? You can get Emergen-C at health food stores here. You're right... they are yummy.
3I take a multi-vitamin...it has lots of vitamin c in it!
4I take a multi-vitamin and that's all I need for one day
5Honeslty, I stopped taking it for a week after taking one a day for 2 months and wow I got a stuffy nose and a cough and it's honeslty worth it!
To be honest, I don't keep track of my Vitamin C. There are so many things to keep track of these days...I am getting sick so maybe I need to do something about it!
6We juice in our family. No to pasturized juices!!
7I love fresh fruits and I love the pulp for the fiber. We get our C though fresh produce. If we're coming down with something we'll use Airborne supplement to boost.
I also incorporate flax into our diet to help with the immune system.
Halls Defense and Airborne!!!
8airborne! i love that mess.
but i drink the juice. and v8 fusion light - then i feel quite a lot better about my intake.
9Most, if not all, of my daily C comes from True Lemon Plus. It's a crystallized lemon water additive. Kinda like dropping a slice of lemon in a bottle of water, but no calories!
10Vitamins and orange juice!
11I try to eat an orange every other day, but it doesn't always happen. I love, love, love tomatoes though and I definitely have about one tomato a day. But I'd have to say that the only way I know I'm getting my full daily amnt of C is b/c my vitamins contain it. I'm pretty sure that I'm usually over the RDA b/c of both my vitamins and my eating habits.
12I put lime juice on almost all my food...soups, meat, salads, corn chips, tea...I've been addicted to limes since I was a kid and used to just eat them whole (minus the rind of course). When I would get sick, my mom would make a tea from limes for me and it would make me feel better right away. Here's the recipe if you would care to try it (though I'm not 100% sure why it works)
1 whole lime cut in quarters
2 cups of water
1 spoonful of honey
1 stick of cinnamon
Bring the water to a boil and add the lime and the stick of cinnamon.
Boil the water down to about 1 cup.
Strain into a coffee cup.
Squeeze the remaining juice from the lime into the cup as well (use two spoons or a pair of tongs because the limes are usually pretty hot)
Add the honey to sweeten to taste.
you can probably leave out the honey if you're really that calorie conscious but it's really bitter without it plus I think the honey is supposed to soothe your sore throat if you have one.
It warms me right up and works pretty well for a home remedy.
13i love citrus fruits... but i admit - i love vitamin C drops so much. it's my guilty pleasure, i can eat the whole 2 months worth box in just one sitting... but i try not to do that anymore, i don't want to overdose, even though i have never experienced any side effects.
14I typically take an ester-C supplement.
15Tangerines and tomatoes!
16I add organic lemon or organic lime juice to water and get a lot of Vitamin C that way...I also drink grapefruit and/or orange juice several times a week and I take a supplement.
