Looks like Newman's Own Peanut Butter Cups are better for you. Not only are they made with antioxidant-rich dark chocolate, but most of the ingredients are organic. They have less calories, fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbs, and less sugar than the regular Reese's. Plus I love that they come in a package of three, so you feel like you're eating more of a treat. I love the taste and I feel good knowing they're made without high-fructose corn syrup.

I love these peanut butter cups too. Glad to hear that they ARE better than Reece's! Thanks, Fit.
1i think newman's own also makes some delicious oreo alternatives.
yipee!
2I love Fig Newman's. Great alternatives!
3I love Newman's products. Their salad dressings are also quite good.
4This is probably a dumb question, but is this the same company spearheaded by Paul Newman that makes all the salad dressings?
5Actually gram for gram, the Newman's Own have more calories. If they were 51 grams instead of 34, they would have 270 calories, which is more calories than 51 grams of Reese's has.
These are just smaller. And if it is really about portion control, this may be better. If not, (and you are only concerned about calories) just eat one Reeses - it's a lot cheaper.
6MlleMLT: do you really want high fructose corn syrup in your body? I think you're better off with 270 calories instead of 260 if you're not eating that crap.
7The dark chocolate ones TASTE way better than the Reeces too. Oooo... and they make a dark chocolate/carmel cup as well that's pretty yummy.
8All other things being equal (aside from price), I try to be Newman's Own when I can. I do try to support brands that I believe mesh with my beliefs, or try to do good things for the world.
That said, I tried Newman's Own Dark Chocolate recently, and thought it was awful. Truly inedible. So, I switched back to my Green and Blacks bars. (Organic, fair trade.)
I haven't tried these, and might give them a shot though.
I love Paul Newman. He's a god man.
9as a former camper at the camp he started in CT for kids with severe illness i wholeheartedly support any newman's own product (organic or non-organic.)
but i agree with judy - the dark chocolate was just terrible.
10Haribo - no I try to avoid HFCS as well... you'll notice I said if all you are worried about is calories, Reeses are cheaper ;] Just pointing out that organic/Whole Paycheck/Sun Harvest type foods aren't always (and in fact, usually are not) better in terms of calories and macronutrient balances. Just cause its organic doesn't mean it is good for you. There are people who think they can eat organic "health" food cookies and candy and they are being healthy lol - then there are people who just want some chocolate and this type of food is in line with their beleifs in which case, go for it!
11I love all of the Newman products--I just bought some Newman-O's this weekend. My dog likes them too...they make the cutest heart-shaped dog treats. They are the perfect size for any dog. Thanks for the heads-up on these (human) treats
12I sure do love anything peanut butter, especially peanut butter cups. I have to give these a try.
13I have to agree with JudyRie and ovenmitt - I have tried these exact PB cups, and I thought they were disgusting. And I love Green & Black's, that JudyRie mentioned, so they are definitely my "healthy" chocolate of choice...
14I can polish off a bag of Newman O's in a day.
15I think i'll stick to making mine from scratch. They're so easy and I know exactly what goes into them. They always vanish immediately when i make them for a crowd.
16they seem to be the same to me.
notice that the amount of reese's is 51 g and newman's 34 g.
obviously reese's peanut buuter cups will have more calories and fat, because you have a larger amount!
no offense fit, but I think u re check this.
17should*
18Celebrity Soup - You're right about them not being equal in weight, but I was comparing the typical packages sizes. If you compared them by weight, then yes, they would be pretty similar, but the fact still remains that the Reese's are made with High Fructose Corn Syrup, so I'd choose Newman's instead. Plus I love the way they taste.
19I'll have to give them a try!
20Thanks for the heads up, MlleMLT! I was sitting here wondering how Newman's could have so fewer calories, and since they come with three cups, it never even occured to me to look at weight.
21I'm definitely going to try these!
22I am totally going to check these out! I looove the salad dressings.
