Marty, a contestant from season three of The Biggest Loser, once said: "The largest [dieting] obstacle is getting back on track after a cheat day." I have to second that. With the biggest cheat day of the year being Thanksgiving, I thought I would remind you to get back on the healthy lifestyle wagon right away. Don't allow one day of indulgence send you into a downward spiral.
Plan on exercising Friday. Morning is always best, because that way you are sure to fit a workout into your busy post-holiday schedule. Also avoid the temptation to eat pie and leftover stuffing for breakfast — or am I the only one who does that? Instead, have a healthy, balanced breakfast, then make yourself a turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread and hold the mayo.
The bottom line: So you might overindulge for one day. Fine. Just don't let it push you off track until the New Year!

It's ok to eat a sweet or two once in a while. No one is perfect.
1In my family, we actually have 2 Thanksgiving dinners: one on Thursday and one on Friday. It's because our family kind of gets split up over who eats where and when, so having 2 dinners lets everyone see each other. I work out on Thursday and Friday so I don't feel too guilty. Plus, I try not to eat TOO much at each "dinner"!
2nothing wrong with indulging every once-in-a-while...it's all about moderation (how many times have we heard that before?!). fortunately for me, my gym is open tomorrow, so i'll be hitting it early before i hit the buffet line! and then i'll be back again on friday morning.
3Great way to put it in perspective. It is a holiday after all!
4You're so not the only one that does that
5I'm definitely going to work out on Friday, haha.
6Or just don't gorge...yeah, right!
7i always overindulge during weekends
OVERindulge.
8great tip, i always get lost when i eat something naughty
9For me what works is just to continue working out holiday or not. Me and my hubby are having a holiday after christmas and he has already been on Google Earth to find a good running route from the hotel! I enjoy my holiday much better if I work out like usual and only indulge (with moderation) on the food by eating out more and often drinking a bit more. Indulging on both the food and the work out would make me depressed and I know it would be really hard to get back on track after my holiday.
10Just keep up with your excerise rountine and I'm sure it's ok to enjoy the holidays and eat what you want for the big dinners
11We ended up spending the Thanksgiving at the hospital where my mom-in-laws is staying.
So this is the first time my hubby couldn't 'gorge' himself, and it was definitely the least amount of Thanksgiving food I've ever eaten
2 slices of turkey (the white part), steamed green beans, sparse stuffing half the size of a baby's fist, and 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes with very little gravy.
My hubby did have pumpkin pie (the only dessert they provided at the hospital cafeteria), but I didn't because I'm not big on pumpkin pie.
So yea...I don't think I gain anything yesterday...
12Ya, moderation folks.
