I'm sure that you have programmed your cardio machine at the gym to stay in the Fat Burning Zone. I certainly have, hoping my lower love handles (that is what I call my "saddle bags") would just disappear.
Well, I won't do it again, because you burn more calories when working at a higher intensity. To lose weight you need to burn up calories, and endurance training does that way more efficiently and effectively.
While it is true that you burn more fat in relation to carbs when working in the Fat Burning Zone, you burn more of both fat and carbs when your heart rate is higher. So go for the gusto, kill two birds with one stone, burn it all up getting your heat rate above the Fat Burning Zone.
To figure out what your heart rate should be to get into that aerobic endurance zone, check out Fit's Target Heat Rate Calculator.

then perhaps you should update the calculator and get rid of the fat burning zone? call it the "burn more fat than carbs" zone. and then the higher intensity heart rate should be the "burn both fat and carbs" zone.
