OK, so you've probably heard of the book, Fast Food Nation, where the author, Eric Schlosser reveals the unpleasant truths about fast food.
Did you know that Americans spend more money on fast food than on higher education or new cars? Every month more than 90% of American children eat at McDonald's. The average American eats 3 hamburgers and 4 orders of fries a week.
But what exactly is in those hamburgers? If you knew, you'd never eat at another burger chain again. And if you thought the fries were "animal-free," think again. McDonald's still acknowledges that some of the flavor in their fries comes from "animal products" - whatever that means.
This best-selling book was made into a movie, starring Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke. But The New Yorker and New York Post both gave it horrible reviews.
I don't know about the movie, but I found the book to be extremely powerful and life-changing. After reading it, I'm sure you'll think twice before ordering your next Happy Meal.

LOVE the book.
Can't wait for the movie.

"Animal products" probably means lard or tallow that they use to flavor fries.
I know it is totally gross but people love them and would probably complain that they fries "didn't taste normal" if they changed it.
2i heard the book was great, i think i'll read it before the movie!
3That book changed my life. The first time I started to read the part about the cows being slaughtered, I cried in the bookstore.
4I saw the movie. It was really scary, and gross!!
5I want to read this book!
6Is this movie out now?
7Interesting about the animal products, because if I remember correctly from the book, they got plenty of criticism from vegetarians using animal fat to fry the fries. I think they went as far as suing, but I can't be quite sure. McDonald's had to change the oil they used for their french fries after that.

Yeah, the movie's out. Let me know what you think.
9I heard that Mickey D's got sued too, so they stopped deep frying their fries in animal fat. BUT their fries come to McDonald's (from wherever) frozen and containing animal fat already. Disgusting if you're a vegetarian.
10I heard about it.
11It is a great book, it opened my eyes...to researching further and learning on my own what is safe to eat and what is not. Use the book as a up start to an eyeopening way we as Americans treat our bodies.
12great book! if you really, really want a hamburger and some fries, skip mcdonald's and go to in-n-out! they're the only fast food chain to get a positive rating from the book due to their fresh food.
