If you're on the road or in a rush, sometimes you can't avoid finding yourself in a fast food restaurant. Hamburgers are a pretty popular menu item, and since every fast food joint prepares them differently, it's hard to make the healthiest choice.

Well I just about had a heart attack looking at those numbers. As you can see, they're loaded with tons of sodium and calories. If you can, I'd stick with burgers from In-N-Out or McDonald's since they aren't as bad for you as those from Wendy's and Burger King. Go for smaller sandwiches too, ones that are made with only one patty. Order extra veggies on top, and then order a healthy salad or baked potato on the side. Forget a side of French fries, since they're loaded with sodium and crazy amounts of calories. Picking up fast food is fine every once in a while, but with numbers like these, I wouldn't make a habit of "lovin' it."

Hugo Boss
Avon
Polo Ralph Lauren
Mmmmm, In N Out Double Double w/ cheese, double grilled onions, and double tomatoes... only burger I eat and it is delish! Jeez, now I want one!
1Fast food=
2no in-n-out in Miami
I love their grilled cheese with grilled onions
3Ew!
4Thank god I hate Buger King!
My all-time FAV is Filet of Fish from McDicks! Sooooooo yummy! haha!
i wonder where BK's veggie burger rates...
5Sadly fast food hamburgers are my weakness, but I only allow one a week, if that. I would rather eat something healthier from Subway or a deli.
6Wow... these numbers make me want to vomit. Though I do love In-N-Out and binge each time I'm on the west coast.
7I really miss In-N-Out since moving back to the East Coast!
8Very bad food! Just say NO to fast food.
9Ick.
10mmmm In-N-Out, I miss it too. They have Five Guys on the east coast but it's not the same.
11Im one of the few that DOESN'T like IN N Out. I don't know what it is, but I think it's gross. I don't eat fast food too often, but it's usually McDs when I do. I haven't had French fries in like over a month, they're usually my weekend. Oh how I love them.
12A plain burger at McDonald's isn't too bad. But if I'm having fast food, I'm all about Taco Bell's crunchy tacos fresco style. 150 cal a pc.
13McDonald's Quarter Pounder...it's one of my favs... but there is a burger here in Brazil from McDonald's that is double meet and it's one of the least caloric sandwiches, they call it Mc Double...
14What about In-N-Out Protein style? No bun! So yummy. And low carb.
15YAY for In-n-Out!
16what about a plain hamburger at burger king, why isn't that up there?
17This makes me glad I haven't had a hamburger in ten years.
18I dont usually eat hamburgers much...if i go to a fast food place its the chicken sandwiches i usually order.
I do love In-n-out burgers though...but they're across town from me and i dont usually like to trek out that far for fast food.
19I love cheeseburgers from Portillo's (awesome fast food place in the Chicago area) so much, that it is the only place I let myself order a cheeseburger at. That way I am only eating like 6 cheeseburgers a year, and they're really good ones! I think most fast food is okay if you only have it once in a while.
20i love my in-n-out splurges.
21Oh dear god, i LOVE In N OUT. i'm trying to curb my fast food binges, haven't had a fast food hamburger in a month and 1/2. oiye.
what about Carls Jr? If there's no In N OUT that's the only other chain I'd go to.
22I both mourn and rejoice at the fact that there's no In-N-Outs anywhere near here because it's the only fast food burger I like. But oh man, when I'm on the west coast I do pig out on them. Luckily that's only about every other year.
23Yuck.
I'd so much rather have a veggie burger or turkey burger.
24i had in and out last night. cheeseburger, animal, protein - the best!
25Yeah I wonder where a veggie burger from Burger King rates. I know that they use Morningstar Patties, but when I make a veggie burger at home it always seems so much healthier! Which I guess is why Burger King is still a "treat".....
I really have to wonder why Fit chose to compare the two smaller burgers at Mickey Dee's and In-n-Out with only the larger burgers from Burger King and Jack in the Box? We're not stupid....those burgers aren't equivalent, so what was the point of this if you're not going to present a fair picture?
26kinda surprised about macdonalds being picked instead of wendy's but aok since i only like in-n-out. woo hoo, cali
27I live in the Midwest and I have never had an In-n-out burger...we don't have them here. But we DO have Culver's and their scrumptious Butterburgers! I haven't eaten a fast food burger in something like 7 years, so I don't really miss them anymore; plus I never really crave them. Good thing...holy calories! I can't justify eating that many calories in one sitting.
28I read the nutrition info for In-N-Out and thought "Wow! Too good to be true!" Unfortunately, it is
The calorie content for In-N-Out you've listed here is actually the serving size in grams. A hamburger is 390, cheeseburger 480, double-double 670.
http://www.in-n-out.com/nutritional_info.asp
29For the BK Whopper mayo - exactly how much mayo do they put on it to equal 160 cal difference?? Crazy.
30I agree snowbunny. I'd like to have seen Fit include at least the Whopper Jr since that's what I usually get at BK.
31In -N- Out, I miss it SO much... Though I'd hate to see what their animal fries rate...
32The chicken sandwiches are almost as bad...some are even worse! I've just come to the realization that if I'm eating fast food, I'm getting more calories than I want to think about.
Animal fries?? What are those?? (I've never been to an In-N-Out)
33shernic82, In-N-Out fries animal style = with cheese, extra bun spread (it's like Thousand Island dressing), and grilled onions. Sort of yummy, sort of gross.
34I'm also pleased to see that the In-N-Out burgers are (relatively) low-calorie....as long as you don't get the fries, you can indulge and not completely ruin your healthy eating regimen.
But the fries (NOT animal-style!) are the best part, mmmmmm.
35the calories on here are wrong!!
on in-n-outs website the calories are higher!
36I love in-n-out and have it every week or two. I'm glad it seems to have one of the fewest calories and shiz. Why don't they list fat?
37I used to love fast food when I was younger. I can't stand it now. The smell of it makes me sick.
38"gag me with a spoon"
39Your figures are wrong for the In-N-Out Burgers!!! You say the Double Double is 330 cals when it's actually more than TWICE that at 670 cals! Same goes for the other In-N-Out Burgers you list. You put down the weight in place of the calories. See their website. You might want to check your other numbers...
