Lance Armstrong tried his hand at the NYC Marathon for the second time on Sunday. He came in at 2:46:42, which was just under his goal of 2:50. The top male runner finished in 2:09:04, which is unbelievable.
When asked if he is returning to pro sports, he replied, "I do this stuff for fun. ... I'm a dad. I'm a cancer advocate ... but pro sports are done for me." With all these dads and moms running (and winning) the marathon, I am inspired.
Congratulations again to everyone who finished the race!
(I love his "I'm pooped" face, but what is going on with the guy running to the left of him?)

WOW! Lance is a freakin' athletic machine.
1Wow, amazing!
2Kudos to him!
I know he is Lance Armstrong and all, but the day I do a MARATHON "for fun"...haha yeah right!
3I'm with you Meg. Plus he had people from Nike pace him through the whole race so he would make his goal.
4Not surprised that he could do it in such a great time. And cubadog, what do you expect? In his cycling career, he had a team that rode with him and was dedicated to getting him accross the finnish line at the right time. Figures he'd do the same in a marathon. must be nice.
5hey, i dont know many people out there that could run a 2:46!that is unbelivable. the winner ran a 2:11 ish race. he is superhuman with or without a group of pacers AND he had CANCER.. if i had the money i would totally would take advantage of it as well.
6the guy on the side of him looks like he is cramping or something.trying to adviod the paps? its not really pretty, is it? i lauged when i saw it even though it appears that something is definatly not right...
I didn't say I expected anything.
7I'm glad he did the marathon and all, but I think he's a jerk. He left his wife to date hot Hollywood women (Sheryl Crow and now, get this, Ashley Olsen), he is an attention hog as well. He got the marathon committee to put his name on his number tag which is only reserved for very elite world class runners. If he hadn't had pacers, I don't know that he would've made it in such good time. Last time he did it, he didn't do that great.
What about Katie Holmes? She did the marathon too...I want to see pics of her!
8He's hot.
9I totally agree with you Spectra! Honestly, it gets on my nerves how he milks his cancer experience as if he's the only one who ever went through it.
It's one thing to acknowledge it and advocate for it but it seems like he can't say one sentence without plugging it! Btw, i'm a cancer survivor myself so I know the difficulties associated with it but for real, he's a jerk and I think he tries to use it to cover up his bad qualities.
Having cancer is not an excuse for being a douche!
10lol...hope i wasn't too harsh!
11YES, that was harsh! He almost died for god sakes. He can milk it all he wants. The guy is missing one of his nuts...go ahead Lance milk it.
You're hot...I'd do ya. One nut or two.
12i'm with you sopasmom. (though he's not my type
). AND he won the most grueling road
race...seven times! Party on Lance, you earned it.
13Lance plugs his Livestrong Foundation because it raises money for cancer research! He doesn't plug it to boost his ego! His foundation has raised millions of dollars for cancer research so plug away Lance! I have several people close to me battling cancer and if his "plugs" contribute to reasearch that will someday find a cure than how can that be bad no matter what the reason? His ex-wife, Kristin, is a runner as well. She writes a great blog about running and motherhood.
14Thanks for the support econinsf & Arthur. I've read both his books and they are very inspiring. I think the guy is amazing.
15Sorry if i sound harsh but i used to be really into Lance as well ESPECIALLY as a survivor myself (i had leukemia as a child). However, i've become very disillusioned with the way he is as a person, not necessarily his foundation.
i guess it annoys me when people treat him like a god and that he can do no wrong.
And it just seems like the things he does are for his own glory although he portrays it as for the glory of others. Call me insensitive but that's just what i see and that saddens me because i doubt he was always that way.
Also, not only as a survivor but one who works with many children with cancer as a volunteer, i can tell you that as much i love the kids i work with they can use that cancer as an excuse to get away with anything and everything. I used to do that and my mother would reprimand me just like any normal child.
And that's all i have to say about that...
16that guy is blowing a snot rocket.
17totally.
