I've been hearing about this for a while, and while it sounds so convenient, it also sounds so, well, STRANGE. Maybe someday I'll give it a try, though.

if youre worried about the environment, are you using organic cotton exclusively? cuz its better for you and the earth.

I love mine. Once you get used to it, its a lot less gross then a tampon.

Wow - lot's of great comments. I know this sounds really weird, but so do tampons if you stop and think about it. A small piece of cotton just sitting up inside of you? This is a really small cup, and it's flexible. It collects the fluid (which is not a lot at all), and then you gently pull it out (like a tampon) and dump it in the toilet. Then you can wash it and re-use it. It's kind of like a diaphragm or cervical cap.

You don't even feel it inside you. And that little long piece on the bottom just gets cut off. I'm telling you, it's really amazing. It saves you money, is better for the environment, and you can wear it all day and night without even thinking about it. Another great thing is that you don't have to worry about TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome), like you do with wearing tampons for too long.

I have one too and it's so much easier to use than tampons (which can leak). I hated buying that stuff every month, and now all I need is my Keeper. Just get pass the idea that it's weird and get one already.

Good question flutterpie. Since it's flexible, you just fold it in half, and then fold it in half again. Once it's inside you, it returns to the little cup shape.

I didn't know anyone else knew about this. My friend who's a real environmentalist got me one for my birthday. When I first saw it I was like ".....uh....thanks." But then I tried it, I loved it so much, I bought one for our other friend.

word of warning; GROSS OUT AHEAD. a friend tried this and the "results" were all over her bathroom upon removal. don't want to even think about it.....

This is exactly like the divacup (http://www.divacup.com). I was considering getting one but then I thought about how messy it would get when it comes to removing it...not so bad when you're at home but definitely not the best thing to happen when you're in a public washroom.

EWWW. How do you clean it properly? Alcohol? the dishwasher? I like the idea of not using a tampon, but the sanitary factor bothers me.

Ok, here's the deal with cleaning it. Once you remove it (keeping it upright), you just empty it in the toilet or sink. Then use warm water to rinse it and then re-insert it. It's that easy.

Hey Trisugar - I thought the same thing about public restrooms - but have no fear. After you empty it, just use some TP to wipe it off, and then you can re-insert it.

At the end of your period, just wash The Keeper in soapy water and let it air dry. Then place it in the cute little fabric bag that it came in, to be ready for next time.

Besides how gross and SCARY is the idea of sticking CHLORINATED (ie Bleached) cotton into our bodies where it sits in contact with our very sensitive mucus membraines just leaching into our bodies and doing who knows what kind of damage. Chlorine is one of the most deadly chemicals we have and we are sticking in our vaginas?!!!

I can remember using something similar to this in the 70's. It looked very similar except it was a natural rubber color, and it had a loop on the bottom to help remove it. I don't recall the name, but it was very easy to use, and I had no problems with it. I had completely forgotten about it until I saw this.

this is very interesting...i have very light/short cycles (b/c of my pill)and it is so frustrating b/c sometimes i dont need a tp but then when i dont use it, it is there and sometimes when i do there is nothing and it is PAINful! something to think about for sure.

This is really great! I agree that getting grossed out by your period is childish! We all get it and it's not gross, why do we think its gross, I just don't get it?
The keeper is a lot more hygienic than tampons, and if you're worried about spilling when you take it our, you just need to be careful to take it out over the toilet bowl.

Ok, I recently invested in the divacup, and have used it for 2 cycles. First time, I was a little freaked out, but it is SO easy. Like someone said, think about how gross tampons are - this is no worse. Leakage is nonexistant, there are no odors, I can stop buying tampons and I don't have to worry about the whole chlorine thing.

I've never used the Diva Cup, but it looks like the Keeper. It must be like the Moon Cup, because it's latex-free. Nice.

t0xxic, I have actually tried those purple things... they are like giant condoms with really hard rings that kind of serve the same purpose as this Keeper. My issue with those- it was kind of icky to stuff it all up in there, and sometimes it would pop out (with contents) while I was walking or sitting. I think I used a few and threw the rest away. Maybe this one will actually stay put?

This is why I'm thinking menopause might not be so bad afterall...lol. Only a few more decades!

Can you only order it online, or is it available in stores?

hmmm. I don't know maybe I'll try it. I am a teen though so I should probably check what my mom thinks first!
