The title of the DVD intrigued me more than anything – such an interesting mixture of concepts: yoga, booty and ballet. What more could a mother, who is trying to avoid the temptation of her daughters' Halloween goody bags, want?
The two ladies behind Yoga Booty Ballet have put together an effective abdominal routine that is just shy of 20 minutes. They call this mixture of yoga and Pilates "Goddess Abs" and it is fun to do since these gals certainly keep you going. Much of the work is done using a small squishy ball (which I guess comes with the fitness package of DVD and diet info you can buy from the Beach Body web site). However, the work is quite effective without the prop.
The workout moves quite briskly, and suggestions for beginners are only offered a handful of times, but many pseudo yogic inspirational phrases are repeated often while you crunch your abs to oblivion. I enjoyed the workout, however, I did not enjoy the coy instructors leading the DVD and their pearls of wisdom. If you are looking to spice up your ab routine, I would add the DVD to your NetFlix queue. It is certainly worth a rental and comes paired with the "AM Latte" invigorating morning workout. You can also find the DVD set for $18 from Amazon.

I'd pass...
1i've been using their burlesque workout for about a week and it's been pretty fun. i love that they had a chunky girl workin' with all the pretty people. i found her to be a great motivation. they were encouraging throughout the workout, stressing that practice brings you up to speed with them, but agree that in my video they also didn't offer a whole lot of beginner suggestions. still - it's dance and it makes you sweat! i just got their beginner/advanced beginner dvd from the library last night and am interested to see if it's as much fun.
2I have their DVD's and I did them once and never again. The mix of dancing and yoga should not be done the same day. My back was hurting for three days. Aldo the diva style instructors made me laugh, not inspired.
3I'm slightly interested in trying it, but I'd be a little embarrassed to own a fitness DVD called Yoga Booty Ballet, Goddess Abs. But if it's a good workout I wouldn't mind renting it.
4I saw their infomercial once in a hotel room and laughed for about an hour. I actually own one of the DVDs, but I haven't brought myself to actually use it yet. If it's actually good, though, maybe I'll give it a shot ...
5hmmm im interested to wonder has anyone tried these moves and had success. i tried them on on demand one time and found them to be a little chessy. turbo jam is way better, seriously....
6I'm curious - but like UrbanBohemian, I think the title is cringeworthy.
7Hey I bought the Yoga Booty Ballet Latin and Light&Easy 2 disc dvd set. And you know what? It's really been great. The instructors can get a little cheesy but the exercises are great. My butt and abs have really tightened up and it's been a nice supplement to my other workouts during the week. I love their happy, lighthearted attitudes. I'm not the best at following routines on videos but it was still not too difficult. I don't know about the featured Goddess Abs video but the one I have is fabulous and yields great results.
