You see packages with the words "gluten free" on them all the time. Do you know what that means and if it is good for you or healthier? Do you know anything about allergies to gluten? What do you know about gluten and being "gluten free"?

1Ya hoo! Only one wrong and I struggled between my choice and the correct one. I have a friend that was diagnosed with Celiac this year and so I've been learning a lot about gluten and gluten free. My son is even really getting into it - asking when we visit my friend and are buying a snack if it's gluten free so she can eat it. SO cute!
2My ex has Celiac disease, so this quiz was a piece of cake for me.
3My dad has Celiac's disease. I love cooking for him and making his favorite recipes gluten free. We made gluten free pierogi last week. It was great.
4i have a close friend with celiac disease and a cousin who´s diabetic and was recently diagnosed with celiac disease, too.. bummer.
5Fortunately for those who cannot eat gluten there is a variety of gluten-free foods and a certain brand of gluten-free chocolate cake that is ridiculously good!
6woo hoo 100% I rock. U guess I know my gluten.
75/8...not too bad
8I have celiac. So do 2 of my 3 sisters and my mom. At least when I go home I'm surrounded by gluten free foods! Thanks for making this quiz FitSugar!
92 of my duaghters have celiacs. the first has been gf for over 6 years and the second for about 1 year. they present their symptoms very differently and my second daughter's allergy is mild. the food available now is so much better than it was when i started the gf diet with my first so long ago. i had to buy a lot of her food through the mail! now whole foods has a great gf bakery section with lots of yummy things my girls love. there are web sites dedicated to which grocery items are gf (lays potato chips and fritos for example) for anyine getting started. just do a google on gf diet or try gluten free pantry.
10100%! Didn't realize I knew that much about it!
117/8 woohoo.
I know because I've been here, done that with my doctor. They had to check me for it but I was a okay.
12I have Dermatitis Herpetiformis, which is also a gluten sensitivity. Instead of the glutens messing with my stomach and intestines, they cause large painful blisters on my skin. I was mis-diagnosed several times before a skin biopsy was done and a proper diagnosis was made.
13My husband has Celiac Sprue. I am such a little soap boxer about it he and I made a dvd this summer teaching people how to set up their kitchens. fitsugar I appreciate you doing something on gluten its not well known and its a hard world for Celiacs. Its getting better by the day though!
14Sorry have to get back on the soap box for a minute. Technically your question THREE is incorrect. Celiac is not an allergy to gluten it is an autoimmune disease and produces a immune response to gluten. An allergry is a histimine response. Celiac is not an allergy. Think of it in terms of a diabeetes which is also an autoimmune disease.

A friend of mine was diagnosed with Celiacs Disease and it was a real struggle for her to overhaul her lifestyle. I was shocked to find out how much gluten is in!!
16Thanks for this quiz!!! I have a gluten intolerance, not officially diagnosed with Celiac disease, but I'm happy to see FitSugar getting some more (mostly) accurate information out there!
17I missed one because i read it wrong! Darn! My mother and my mother's mother both have celiac disease. But to diagnose my mom they just did a biopsy on her small intestines. I cant imagine the struggle of not being able to eat wheat, and i buy gluten free stuff for them when i can because i live in a city and in rural america where they live it's so hard to find food like that. Thanks for this quiz Fit.
18My boyfriend is gluten/wheat/lactose/soya/corn/sugar intolerant.
It makes meal times a real hassle. I'm lactose intolerant but it's no big deal. At least I don't need to live off chips and bacon.
=P
19One of my close friends from college has Celiac. She has been really wonderful about teaching me about the disorder. I know she always felt guilty about finding gluten free-friendly place to eat when we would go out to dinner, but we were happy to accomodate her!
