Did you skip your breakfast? Well don't. You need the meal to set the energy tone for your day. Eating first thing in the morning helps to stabilize blood sugar levels, which regulate appetite and energy. So without breakfast, people crash mid-morning and generally reach for quick energy food like sweets or drink an extra cup of coffee. In turn, these food make you crash. So by lunch you're crabby. Eating breakfast can help you keep a positive attitude throughout the day.

Plus, skipping breakfast is NOT a good dieting technique. For the reasons listed above and studies have shown the people who eat breakfast have an easier time maintaining their weight. It all seems to go back to the idea of lifestyle changes and creating healthy habits.

The study also found that whole grain cereal had the most healthful affect on participants.

Fit's Tip: Start the day with steel cut Irish Oatmeal. It'll keep you full. Try this short cut I use: The night before bring 4 cups of water to a boil, add one cup of oats, add some cinnamon, cover and turn off the heat. The next morning turn the heat on keeping the lid on for a few minutes. Take the lid off and cook for another 5 to 8 minutes. YUM.

When I don't eat breakfast, I don't get hungry until 12 or 1 PM. If I do eat breakfast, I am hungy again by 10:30...even when I heat whole grain, high fiber cereal...This says to me my metabolism is working harder so I def don't skip out on bfast anymore

    I'm all in.

I never skip breakfast! Even if I'm not that hungry I force myself to at least have a small bowl of cereal. Look on the label of cereals/oatmeals, and look for high fiber and protein, and low sugar. I like Quaker Oatmeal's new weight control oatmeal. Just one packet only has 160 calories, and keeps me full until lunch. It's high in fiber and protein... and most importantly, very tasty!

Ok I totally sound like I work for Quaker with that last comment... sorry! I also like to make my own breakfast sandwich... one english muffin, one slice of cheese, and a scrambled egg. That will keep you going all morning, too!

I used to never eat bfast, but then everyone started giving me flack about it! So I start my day with 1/2 a bottle of an organic soy protein shake (Naked, Odwalla, Bolthouse farms, etc) while putting on makeup because it's too much effort to go out and get food once I get to work. Great idea to cook oatmeal the night before though.

Now I love that I am hungry by mid-morning, b/c like cravinsugar, without bfast I don't get hungry until noon.

I HAVE to eat breakfast, I get woozy without it. I keep a box of the oatmeal breakfast "cookies" at work, just in case!

I love breakfast sandwiches, too, if I have time.

I'm making the breakfast trifle (Snack Attack recipe) on The weekend and dig into it all week long.

The fresh fruits, calcium, protein and yes... oatmeal are all in there pre-assembled - easy to grab a really delicious spoonful between makeup applications, and guaranteed to jump start the ol' metabolism first thing every morning. When I visit my dughter, my son-in-law has me make it in reusable containers and he has his when he gets to work... He's so bad about skipping breakfast otherwise.
