When you're running, it's important to stay hydrated, since you can end up sweating a lot. Waistpacks that hold water bottles
are great for biking and hiking when I need to have my hands free, but when I'm running, I love the easy access of a hand held water bottle.
Check out this one made by Nathan. This is the 2008 QuickDraw Plus Hydration Bottle. It's got padded and adjustable straps so you can secure it snugly and comfortably to your hand. The water bottle can hold up to 22 oz. of water and there's a zippered pouch to keep small essentials like keys, tissues or a cell phone.
Another thing that's great about holding a water bottle in your hand is that since it's filled with water, it acts as a weight. I switch back and forth between my left and right hand every minute or so to work both arms equally.
The pink version shown here has a tiny pink ribbon on it so you can show your support for breast cancer awareness. Order this hydration bottle ($16.19) from BikeSomWhere.com.

Oooo I think i am loving the yellow one
1I think it's cute, but I hate carrying stuff when I run. I usually put my water bottle by my door and after a certain number of laps, I come and drink some. I would probably use it for hiking though.
2I recently bought a hand-held water bottle, and I'm glad I did because it makes long distance running so much easier! I have a "Ultimate Direction" bottle, but I like the top on this one a lot better. It's very user friendly.
3I have this in a different color and I'm not a big fan. It's probably because I hate carrying stuff while running; it makes me feel unbalanced. But the little pocket is really great for carrying essentials (phone, key, gels).
4My favourite running bottle is still the donut-shaped kind - any of the other ones I find either don't hold enough water for me or are too wide to grasp comfortably while running. Luckily, the donut kind are usually the cheapest, too!
5pretty cute.
6The other alternative to hand helds (or even water belts or camelbaks) is the Body Bottle which is a water bottle that straps to your arm. It keeps your hands free and is more comfortable than the others. Its at bodybottle.com if you haven't seen it.
