Are you in the market for an exercise ball? Or perhaps you would like to give one as a gift? In either case you want to make sure the ball is the correct size for the body using it. It is easy to do since the sizing is just based on height.

Here's the break down I use with my Pilates clients.
- If you are less than 5’4’’ your ball should be 55 cm in diameter.
- Say you are between 5’4” and 5’10”, then your ball should be 10cm bigger and measuring 65 cm in diameter.
- For all of you 5’10" or taller, the ball should be 75 cm in diameter. Seems pretty simple and you have a little wiggle room with how much to inflate the ball too.
Fit's Tip: When you are sitting on the ball, your knees should be at a 90 degree angle, so your pelvis is even with your knees. This will ensure proper alignment and balance for all of the exercises you can do with the ball. And let me tell you, there’s a lot you can do with ball.

i'm under 5' tall, and the smallest balls are still too big. i can't touch the ground! depression. some of the packages say if your height is 5'0-5'4, then use the 55 cm, which i think is more accurate. they should make smaller ones so that us short people and even some kids could get in on it!
1I am just under 5'4 and I use the 55 cm ball.
2The silver ones are cool! I usually see them in blah colors like red, blue and green!
3those balls are great! with just 5-6 different exercises you do almost all muscles you need. i mix yoga and ball at home. perfect combination for me! you might have some good ball exercises for us, dear fit?!
4I am SO getting a ball!!
5I don't know where they got there info but it is way off. I am 6'1" and I use a 65cm and a 55cm depending on the exercise. The rule I go by with my clients is that it is better to use a ball that is to small then to big. For those of you who who think there is plenty of leg room on airline seats then they also make balls at 35 and 45cm sizes you just have to buy them online.
