Some of you may have a difficult time falling or staying asleep, but others are the opposite. You hit snoozeland as soon as your head hits the pillow and you could end up sleeping until lunch.
If that's the case, you probably have a really tough time waking up, and this little device called the Sleeptracker Pro ($179) may interest you. Just as its name states, it tracks the series of sleep cycles your body experiences throughout the night. Most people will go through four to five full rounds of these 90 to 110 minute cycles, which are comprised of five stages. In Stages 1 and 2, you're lightly sleeping, and Stages 3 and 4, known as Delta Sleep, are when you're in the heaviest sleep. This is when your body has the chance to rebuild itself. Stage 5 is known as REM sleep is when we dream.
As your body undergoes these cycles, the Sleeptracker Pro's sensors can figure out what points during the night you are "almost awake." You set the alarm for a certain window of time, say 6:15 to 6:30 a.m., and the watch gently wakes you at the most optimal moment when you're most alert. This device may be great if you tend to be coma-like each morning. The only downside is that wearing a bulky wrist watch like this may be annoying and it'll keep you up all night. If you're a deep sleeper though, you probably won't even notice it. What do you think of the Sleeptacker Pro? Is this a helpful gadget or a waste of money?
Apparently Dr. Phil is a huge fan. To hear what he had to say read more.

Esprit
Aminaka Wilmont
Dior Homme
Interesting. If I could afford one I'd totally get it. Maybe for x-mas.
1Sounds interesting actually, although I'd probably be more impressed if Dr. Phil *hadn't* endorsed it.
2I NEED this... Every morning I feel like I'm waking up from a coma. Pricey though...
3I think that would be great. This morning, my alarm went off at 5:30 and I felt okay. I decided to snooze for 10 minutes just because I could and it's Friday. Well, when my alarm woke me up at 5:40, I felt like absolute crap.
In a nutshell, I want one.
4God-send! This should be on one of the giveaways.
5Wow, definitely sounds like something I could use! I am terrible at waking up, it's my least favorite thing to do, and I am NOT a morning person by any means! Just this morning I hit snooze for 3 hours..oops.
6i think a waste of money... but sometimes i do wake up by myself at 7.00 and the alarm is for 7.20, so i lay there alert for 5mins, then fall asleep again and when the 7.20 comes i can't open my eyes...
what bugs me is how the hell is a wrist watch gonna know what brain waves i'm projecting at the moment... wrist is too far away from the brain, so sounds very shady.
7Interesting, but the amazon review aren't that great. I'll pass but it is an interesting idea.
8Allytta: it doesn't record brain waves. This is from their website: "SLEEPTRACKER® looks for and records brief periods of movement that are associated with almost awake moments or very light stages of sleep.".
9i love the concept of this - but with me i'm sure that it would have a hard time figuring out my sleep patterns since i'm so crazed with it. some times i'm out like a light and sometimes i'm an insomniac.
10I definitely need something like this. It seems like some mornings I'm naturally almost awake about 10 minutes before the alarm goes off. So I flop back over and fall back asleep for a while. Then when the alarm DOES go off, I can barely drag myself out of bed.
11Spectra, that happens to me too. It seems like I don't sleep good all night, then the alarm goes off. I hit snooze, and 9 minutes later, when it goes off again, I'm passed out.
