A few weeks ago, I got all riled up while watching The Biggest Loser. All the food commercials were for seriously crappy food. It seems more than a little mean to advertise calorie laden food during an inspirational weight loss show. Especially if you consider that the majority of viewers are watching to get a little inspiration on their own path to get in shape.
The one that bothered me the most was by Domino's Pizza; they were advertising their amazing Oreo Pizza. What's the deal with that? It's not enough to make decadent, calorie-laden cheese pizzas, so they have to make dessert pizza too? I'm not even going to question how much crap is in it (although this commercial is pretty funny, I can admit that).
We can all agree that it serves no nutritional purpose, but if you're curious to how many calories are in a slice of this Oreo Pizza pie, read more
Here's the nutritional info on a typical meal from Domino's, including two slices of cheese pizza and one slice of Oreo Pizza. Their website is really sneaky because they give the info for each little part of the pizza. That means you have to do all the work and add up the calories in the crust, the sauce and the cheese in order to figure out how many calories are in one slice.
| Item | Calories | Fat (g) | Sat. Fat (g) | Sodium (mg.) | Carbs (g) | Sugar (g) | Protein (g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 of 8 equal slices of cheese pizza (14-inch Large) | 480 | 18 | 7 | 940 | 84 | 8 | 24 |
| 1 of 8 equal slices of Oreo Dessert Pizza | 120 | 4 | 1 | 110 | 20 | 8 | 2 |
| TOTAL (2 slices cheese pizza, 1 slice Oreo Pizza) | 600 | 22 | 8 | 1,050 | 104 | 16 | 26 |

oreo pizza sounds so gross.
1I hate oreos. When I was in school in like Grade 4 I think, they told us all these horrible things about Oreos and what they do for your heart and body and I haven't touched one since.
2The thought of food from there makes me sick...
3Hmm... the nutritional breakdown didn't seem all that bad to me! In fact, I would have stayed away from it before I saw it but now I think it's okay... I only look at calories and maybe fat count though (and yes, I know that's wrong, but I'm gonna keep on doing it until I feel/see some effects, hah!).
4Yuck. The Oreo Pizza looks--and clearly tastes--awful.
5what! you stay away from oreos? you're crazy!
6THAT sounds disgusting...I'm curious how it is though =P
7That commercial definitely doesn't sell me on it. I just don't buy into dessert pizzas. My boyfriend's mom made one for Sunday lunch that was actually pretty good. Sugar cookie dough for the crust, cream cheese for the sauce and lots of fruit for the toppings!
YUM!
8I agree it isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Although the whole concept of Oreo Pizza isn't making me too excited... I don't know why but oreos should stay as cookies.
I love pizza. We have a Papa Murphy's that recently opened and they have this "deLight" pizza which is made with ultra thin crust and is delicious. I get the Veggie DeLight and it has TONS of vegetables on it like spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, etc. and each slice is 150 calories (8g fat, 275mg sodium, 12g carbs, 8g protein)! I love it. It tastes better than any other type of pizza from a take out place.
(At papa murphys they make the pizza like a subway sandwich putting all the toppings on as you wait, and then you bring it home and bake it so your pizza is hot out of the oven.)
9Talk about mixed messages. Air a show promoting healthy lifestyle and weight loss then tell us all to go out and buy crappy nutritionally deficient fatty food. No wonder some people have a hard time losing weight. I'm glad this kind of food doesn't tempt me.
10I have no idea what Oreo's are (I suppose some kind of cookies), but "dessert pizza"?? Only in America, I guess.
11http://www.nabisco.com/oreo/
They're just little chocolate cookies with cream sandwiched between them.
12The only thing I know about Oreos is that it is an american cookie and that it looks boring... Never tasted one but never got the chance either!
13where do you live freesje? Holland?
14yeah oreos is NOT a big deal here either (Denmark)- have never even tasted one! But that pizza looks GROSS it sounds really revolting ewww!
15Okay I was facinated by the Oreo's pizza and my boyfriend brought me some one day- it's really NOT good. It COULD be good (but terrible for you) if they would stick with the cookie and oreo concept. This though, is a stale tasting cookie with marshmallow goo (where is the OREO CREAM???) and bit of Oreo crumbles on top.. Not worth the time, money or calories.
16it doesn't even look good c'est.
17
18That commercial with the guy and the beard seriously weirds me out!!! I would never order one just because the commercial is so freaky!
19why wouldn't you just get yourself a bag of oreos and eat that? why does it have to be on a dessert pizza?
20i think the most disgusting invention ever, by far, was the philly cheese steak pizza. GROSS.
MMMM. this think is soo good. They test marketed it in my area so it was free, and delish! they use a dif crust than the normal thin crust...my boyf works at dominos, so, I can get it free whenev...but i don't because i know how bad it is for myself.
21After seeing the commercial I could never eat the Oreo pizza.
22sadly, i've tried the Orea Pizza. it was DISGUSTING! the crust looked exactly like the brown cardboard box it came in. and worse, it tasted like cardboard. it was hard to chew and bland. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! trust!!
23well, it tasted how i would imagine cardboard to taste, rather. hehe.
24We get a thin crust pizza, double sauce, light cheese, and tons of veggies from Domino's, and it's surprisingly good. I would NEVER get the Oreo pizza. Oreo's are for dunking, not toppings!
25WTF was that ad?? I'm laughing so hard right now. I just can't imagine marketing staff pitching that idea and NOT being thrown out of the building immediately.
26That doesn't even look good. I don't eat Oreos because they're full of trans fat (although I think they may have changed their formula so now they're full of saturated fat). And I'm not a big pizza fan, either. So we pretty much avoid Domino's at our house.
If you want a good dessert pizza, I make one using sugar cookie dough for the crust and then the "sauce" is a cream cheese icing (I use fat free cream cheese to lighten it up a bit). Then you pile it up with fruit...strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, bananas, etc. It probably doesn't have too many fewer calories than the Oreo thing, but at least you're getting some nutrients and it probably tastes better.
27Oreo pizza?
I'm all set.
28you can't blame commercials for people's weight problems...food sells, its never gonna stop.
29I never tried the oreo pizza, but everytime I want pizza I get whole wheat crust, low-fat cheese and grilled chicken and my boyfriend can't comprehend the difference and HOW BAD these chains are for you.
I swear we watched Supersize Me and he was eating McDonalds like 3 days later...
30I doubt I'd ever eat the Oreo pizza, but at Disney World, there's one restaurant in the Animal Kingdom lodge that makes fried oreos as a dessert. OMG. I'd kill for that dessert! Luckily I only go there once a year, so 364 days a year to work off those calories!!
31I remember getting one from free when I ordered a large pizza a few months ago. Let me tell you the smell alone is enough to make you want to throw up. No one in my house wanted to touch that crap.
32I would starve before I would ever eat Dominos and the commercial for that Oreo pizza further ensures that I wouldn't even eat dessert from there. Ewwww.
33I dug the vid of the guys testing the oreo pizza. ew. it did look nasty. and i'll take their word for it.

34i'm glad I watched that - I was curious to see how it tasted. But I HATE marshmellow fluff so I don't want to now. If the guy had said it tasted like a huge oreo I would have tried it eventually!
35God I'm so glad I turned down that slice of Dominoe's pizza last week. My friend made me try a bite and I thought this tastes horrible. I'm picky about pizza I like the more authentic italian pizzas or mediteranean so gouremet pizza I guess.
Oh and that Oreo pizza looks gross maybe it wouldn't be so bad if the crust was like chocolate cookie dough istead of pizza dough either way I'd rather eat a cookie.
36i'm not really into dessert pizzas...
37Yum, dessert pizzas. Thankfully where I am in New Zealand, there is only a pizza hut, and we dont go there. Am trying to reduce dominos intake, they did a good effort of keeping me away by introducing the meat pie pizza. mmmm maybe if they put NZ lollies on a pizza I'd be tempted. They've already deep fried moros (similar to mars bars), so that might be good on a pizza! Only for a treat though
38I love the breakdowns, so I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I just wanted to point out that this nutritional information can not possibly be correct. If you calculate the calories for 2 pieces of cheese pizza based on the protein, carbs, and fat grams listed above, I believe it should come out to 594, not 480. (This is based on the fact that one gram of protein=4 cals, one gram of carbohydrate=4 cals, 1 gram of fat=9 cals). Something doesn't add up right above!
39I think anything like Dominos or an oreo pizza isn't worth the calories. If you're going to have pizza, have an authentic pizza! If you're going to have cookies or pie, go gourmet! That's my philosophy, better make it worth it if you're going to have some.
40What a nice way to top off a horrible dinner!
41Not worth the calories! I don't like Oreos, and make my own pizza at home!
42I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.
That looks really disgusting.
43I'm also from Denmark and I've tasted Orios - they're yum yums.
44However, I don't see the point in making a pizza out of them, why not just eat the cookies as they are?
As for the calorie count... Who eat's only 2 little slices?
g
45Wow..I'm so thinking a slice of Oreo pizza would be a worthy indulgence to put into my food budget for a splurge...at least once. Looks yummy and I thought the commercial was funny too. But, you're right....crappy food ads during Biggest Loser..so not cool.
46I like the oreos but the idea of this pizza is a bit much.
47i tried a bite of the oreo pizza at a fair thing we have before fall semester starts with all kinds of booths and they were giving away free samples and it was gross i think i threw most of mine away it was so nasty which is saying a lot for me cuz I love oreos
48ewww....i don't eat cookies. It looked even worse as a dessert pizza. yuck.
49i tried the oreo pizza & it was so bad, it just made me want to go out and buy a package of oreos!
